Yeah I should probably hold off on visiting this thread again until after the draft.

Well it would have to have NEITHER as an option imo.

Can we get a poll about if there should be a poll?
And stop trying to trade Hamilton. Not happening. It's like the infamous "SIGN AND TRADE!" that some people always think is going to happen that literally never does.

Credible franchises don't trade their captain at the Draft ... so I hope Giordano is not on the block.
I think Dougie is too soft for the Flames brass, so no surprise to me if he gets shipped out.

Watch AC's Hamilton highlight pack. The kid is figuring it out. He can straight-up murderlize guys when he wants to.
Hamilton, unlike a guy like Phaneuf, picks his spots.

My thoughts exactly... what is way more likely, get PC believing its possible so he misses out on Shattenkirk and Fowler...last minute offer to swap #4 for 6 and Wideman

I said something along these lines yesterday and its worth repeating. There are apparently a number of people who think Treliving is a moron that has yet to show his true colors. He isn't.

Can you blame people?
We just went through Sutter and then Feaster. It's conditioning.

I'll continue to echo the posters who agree this is completely just speculation and rumor mongering.
There's no way BT trades Dougie after what he did last draft to acquire him, considering what we gave up and how much of a steal that was. These type of players don't grow on trees, let alone @ 22 who just came off a career year in points. His contract is pretty damn good based on what we've seen going out so far and rumored to go out on Ekblad.
Its Edmonton, we'd be giving our rival their best asset outside of McDavid.
Trading a proven young D-man for an unproven draft pick that may turn out to be a Hamilton but not right away.
Just don't see it happening either.

I read this as BT is willing to make any move that makes this team better, and mold it into what he envisions it needs to be. No taboos.
If EDM is going to overpay for PK, then find out whether they would do same for Gio or Dougie. I doubt the 4th on its own is enough if Bergevin was asking for #4 and Drai for PK. If EDM is considering that deal, BT would be nuts not to try and get a similar deal.
But more importantly these rumors suggest he is willing to consider a serious re-architecting of the team. That's very interesting to me. I think you have to go back to Cliff to find a Calgary GM with that kind of confidence.

We can have Doug Hamilton or what's in the mystery box
It could even be Doug Hamilton in the mystery box.

I'm not a big fan of Hamilton. I don't hate, but I am not sold on him as a top pairing guy either. Depending on the deal, I would be all for using him to get a goalie or RW.

The only way Hamilton gets traded is if it is for the 4th OA AND a forward. Essentially, Treliving has to kill two birds with one stone with this trade. He needs to acquire a core defenceman and a core forward.
So at the very least, it has to be Hamilton for the 4OA AND Eberle (worst case - and I don't think this is enough for the Flames due to future cap implications of Eberle's contract).
or
Hamitton for the 4OA AND RNH - I have to think this gets it done for the Flames, as this would allow them to move Bennett to the wing.
The 4OA would be used to draft Tkachuk and the 6OA would be used to draft JUolevi or Sergachev.
Flames will have the core group set with Gaudreau, Monahan, Bennett, RNH, Tkachuck, Gio, Brodie, Juolevi/Sergachev
From an Oilers perspective, the 4OA and Eberle/RNH is not getting it done for Subban. They have to decide if that is the right price for Hamilton, who has never won a Norris trophy, but could. Is also cheaper in cap hit than Subban. Hamilton has the potential to be as good as Subban and he really isn't far off.
I honestly think it makes sense for both teams if this is the framework.

McKenzie seems pretty loose in this draft. I guess he has more time on his hands.

My draft day wish list is Fowler to Montreal then Subban to Edmonton. I think McDavid's next contract coupled with Subban's existing contract will make the Oilers dead in the water for options for 6-8 years

I have absolutely zero interest in RNH or Eberle. I don't see where RNH fits in (behind Bennett and Monahan and at best equal with Backlund... For $6M) and Eberle is too one dimensional and overpaid.

Gonna do a crazy proposal.
Dougie and Bouma to the Oilers for 4th pick and Yakupov
Trade the 4th pick, 6th pick, 35th pick, a top forward prospect (Shinkaruk, Porier, Jankowski, Kilmchuck) and a top D prospect (Kylington, Anderssen, Hickey)
For
3rd pick and Jones from Columbus
