He's got 1 assist tonight as Providence leads 3-0 against UML. With a win they could end up in a tie for 1st place in Hockey East tonight.

Who know maybe Jankowski isn't a goal scorer at all. He may be setting up a crap load of chances but his teammates are not finishing. From the the assists he's had on goals I have seen are filthy. You can see what the Flames organization sees in this guy.
He reminds me of Joe Thornton as well. Really like the kids vision.

I'm not too worried about Jankowski yet. I believe you are correct about the lack of finish. If I recall, earlier in the year, there was an interview with Providence coach Leaman who was praising Jankowski for his skill and awareness, noting that he's doing the right things but he's not finishing on his scoring chances. Leaman chalked the lack of finish up to the huge transition in skill that he is dealing with, from high school to college hockey. I tried to find the interview, but I couldn't unfortunately

3-0 win for the Friars. Jankowski with an assist.
Yet another SO for Gillies. The Friars can become Hockey East champs with a win tomorrow and if they do, responsibility can be placed ENTIRELY on the back of Gillies - he has been unbelievable all year.

From what I saw at the Flames development camp, Jankowski has an accurate shot but it is not very hard. If it is true that he is below 170 lbs, then we should wait until he puts on weight and gains some strength before judging his goal scoring. He just didn't shoot hard enough to beat the goalies, but that is going to change as he gets stronger. Obviously he has to work on release and technique yet I am optimistic that he will develop into a very dominant player offensively in the NCAA. He's got the hands, brains, and wheels, can't wait to see when he puts on the weight.

Because he was two days away from being draft eligible this year, because he was rising up the scouts rankings faster than maybe any other player outside the top ten, because he's a 6 foot 4 centre with amazing hands, can shoot the lights out, and skate. So with a full year of development under his belt, there's no reason to think he wouldn't have continued to rise up the rankings, since all he's done since he was drafted is improve.
His toolbox was a tantalizing enough that's most teams were comfortable taking the chance on him in the 20s last year as a 17 year old. It's not like he all of a sudden became a 2nd round talent.

You simply do not go from Quebec High School hockey to the NHL in 2-3 years, it would be developmental suicide. I agree that five years is too long, if he hasn't made it to the show by then he will likely be a bust. Quickest path for him would be another year of Providence (90% chance of him going back in 14/15 as well) + another full year in the AHL. That third year is MAYBE when he begins to push for an injury call-up.

But in another two years, he will have completed three seasons in the NCAA. He's putting up solid if unspectacular numbers in a limited role as a freshman this year. Next year, his role will doubtlessly increase, and by year three, I don't see how he won't be the focal point of his team's offence.
At the end of his third year, he should be ready to push for a spot on this team. That is not an unreasonable expectation. If he needs a few months in the AHL, so be it. After three years, he should be turning pro. It doesn't make sense for him to play the full four.

Which is additionally good because of the lack of depth in the last draft. Basically, it's like they traded a 1st last year in a bad draft for one in this draft, which is a better draft.
Honestly, if Janko can even become a 50-60 point Stajan with size type player, this pick would be a good one.

Anyone see this article? Everyone who wanted Calgary to take Cody Ceci will be disapointed with this news, however Jank fell from 21 (where the Flames took him) to 25.

All that the linked list means is that Jankowski got a top 50 prospect nomination for their Future Watch issue from at least one of the scouts they talked to. Hard to read much more into the list.

Don't see why Subban moves up almost 10 spots. Oscar Dansk as well, who has been bad. Actually, every high drafted goalie moved up like 10 spots, which really makes no sense to me.
I would still take Jankowski over any of the guys drafted from #20-#30

Yikes. Just checked Dansk's numbers. Pretty darn awful. But I suppose that's what'll happen when you play on the second worst team in the OHL.
Yeah, pretty sure Gillies would go before him though.
