Good point. We can be sure at least 1. and yet hes a outsider and not a elected MP. Maybe I will send a email to the government asking to be included in these briefings and discussions at the same time he is receiving them.

What we should do is take that 2% NATO commitment and build naval bases in the Arctic to be able to patrol and enforce the NW passage through Canadian territory. That shipping lane as it opens up will reduce like over 50% of shipping costs from Asia to North America/ Europe and Canada 'controls' it if we care to. Could be a potential commercial boon to our country if we get off the couch and seize our future rather than talk about perpetual managed decline schemes like Carbon tariffs and UBI measures.

Had an idea!

You know Cliff has bought into the koolaid if he can't admit that Carney is being groomed by the Liberals to take over.
But hey, he's an 'outsider.'
That doesn't understand where steel is used. Hilarious.

This would be a continuation of what we've seen the last decade. This only works if most of the productive world also participates.
If you like living in dog crate condos, don't have any aspirations of having a family, don't care about having a good job at a company that's globally competitive, and want to see a ceiling on wages due to millions of 'temporary residents/ students' pouring into the country year after year to manipulate GDP statistics to mask how uncompetitive Canada; then Mark Carney might be right for you.

There seems to be a theme with Trump supporters living in the US trying to write Canada’s funeral if they elect someone who is capable of coming out ahead of him in negotiations. Despite the best efforts of apocalyptic storytellers, Canada is better off with intelligent leaders that understand the economy, not three-word catchphrase machines that have no real plan and cower when Trump is mentioned.

Carney’s platform primarily changes the consumer side of the carbon equation and does not look like it will have a measurable impact on manufacturing and business, though if anything, it is geared closer toward Canada-first policies than we’ve seen in recent memory.
I know Canadian MAGAs aren’t all that crazy about Canada, but it’s nice to see a leadership candidate that actually appreciates the country.

I guess since we stopped caring about the climate, the NW passage is going to be a boon. The thing is, our wonderful partner to the south would have absolutely Nunavut.
Quote:
“The Northwest Passage is a strait used for interna-
tional navigation, and the Northern Sea Route includes straits used for
international navigation; the regime of transit passage applies to pas-
sage through those straits.”6 His successor, President Barack Obama,
also expressly reaffirmed the official United States position in his 2013
National Strategy for the Arctic Region: “Accession to the Convention
[1982 United Nations Law of the Sea Convention] would protect U.S.
rights, freedoms, and uses of the sea and airspace throughout the Arc-
tic region, and strengthen our arguments for freedom of navigation
and overflight through the Northwest Passage and the Northern Sea
Route.”

So you are suggesting setting up a toll gate which would create another front for America to fight us on, and we'd lose.

Your effort to tie anyone not on team Carney to being Canadian MAGA's is commendable. Complete BS, but still.

Where has Freeland and Gould been? If I was running to be Liberal leader I sure as hell would do everything I can to not let one candidate get all the airtime. Seems like a huge fail on their ends.

Spare me the stupidity on how government legislation is going to prevent this from happening.
The only thing Carney is going to do is continue killing Canadian energy, and all the Liberal boot lickers are going to praise him for doing do. His election 'promises' mean nothing. The guy is so stupid he doesn't understand where steel gets used, and you think he is capable of fixing anything? Right. Lap it up.

Politics truly is a flat circle if I have to start accusing "conservatives" of being soviets for their planned economy proposals.

How is he being groomed any more than Kenney was groomed to become the leader of the Alberta PC party in 2017?
I don’t think I’ve ever claimed Carney is an outsider. I’ve even expressed skepticism of Carney’s electability when Canadians are in an anti-establishment mood. But that wasn’t accounting for the absolute ####-show happening south of the border, and the unprecedented U.S. threats to Canada’s economy and sovereignty. Right about now, a sober institutionalist who will fight Canada’s corner looks pretty good to moderate Canadians. The average Canadian isn’t looking at the U.S. today and saying “we need some of that stuff up here!”
It must be frustrating for Canadian conservatives to see their chances of forming a majority slipping away due the association of Poilievre and the CPC with MAGA. But welcoming the loony populist right into the party tent always carried the risk of this kind of political blowback.

Damned straight. Lets get everywhere in the Country to start flaring off and open up those Arctic shipping lanes!

Those shipping lanes do not need any additional activity to open up. That's basically baked into what's already occurred. So the question is what are we going to do about it to ensure our sovereignty over the artic and are there opportunities we should be capitalizing on.

It was a hyperbolic rendition of yours and Cowboy’s posts. You can look up hyperbole on google if you need.
Perhaps in your infinite wisdom you can show how different Carney’s platform is for manufacturing and business and then explain how it’s going to kill it. Should be easy.

I was unaware of that. Can we just airdrop some weighted flags?

Someone could be the closest to centre political voter and say they wish to vote for PP and you would jump to assassinate their character. I have no interest whats so ever to have discussions with you because they are never a conversation. You can keep your constant passive aggresive or downright aggresive BS to your self. For my sake, and everyone trying to read this thread, I will no longer respond to you. Please put me on ignore as I will with you. You are welcome to vote however you see fit, Hope you well in the future.

I like how all these PP supporters gloss over the fact that he supported the Freedumb Truckers.
That alone should have been disqualifying yet all these anti-vax, anti-science deplorables lap it up.
Is deplorable Murphy Brown and Yappy dog still handing out olive branches?
