Would be interested in where you get these exit poll numbers for Canada… Elections Canada’s report on federal election won’t be released until the end of the year.

Edit: even other numbers from Angus Reid in late March show Liberals with a very very small edge among voters under 34 (45% to 39% for males). The big story this last election was actually the gender divide, but anyway.

Abacus conducted polls in the 3 days after the election which had an age breakdown showing the Liberals leading 46 to 39 for U30 voters. Conservatives did gain among 30-44 year olds, but based on the other demographics it's probably safe to assume that their gains were in the older part of that cohort:

Research Co also did exit polling. While this poll didn't explicitly ask how people voted, the Liberals' generally outperformed the Conservatives among Gen Z. And 59% of Gen Z voters thought Poilievre should resign if he lost the election, which was the highest among any age demographic.

You'll note that the exit poll you linked doesn't actually provide vote percentages, so it doesn't provide a whole lot of value. Someone could think cost of living was their biggest issue and still not vote Conservative.

Smith for example has recruited to conservations officers to monitor park passes which are sold to pay the salaries of the conservation officers. She' broken health boards into smaller pieces paying more people to do the same job, she's created inquiries and panels where she can award government contracts to friends and doners. Perhaps I phrased that poorly. That's usually the rhetoric that is used during campaigns and in public statements - get the government out of the private sector! But you see removals of regulations, privatization of public services under the guise that private enterprise can deliver services more efficiently than government can, contractors hired instead of public servants, etc.

It's all in service of lining the pockets of the already wealthy while Joe Public pays increasingly higher costs for housing, electricity, insurance, gas, etc..

You also see a focus on crime prosecution instead of a focus on crime reduction through public service. It's all a giant scam that is taking money from our pockets and concentrating it in those who can never be satisfied by "enough"

Research Co is OK, not the best but still decently rated.

Or you can just look at the final polls of the election by the various pollsters. Obviously age breakdowns have huge margins of error, but most of the best pollsters had the Liberals up among young people. Leger, Angus Reid, Abacus, and Research Co all had the Liberals leading among 18-34 year olds in their final polls, with a range of +7 to +14. Nanos is the only well-rated pollster I'm aware of that had the Conservatives up in that demographic.

Canada likely played out similarly to the US. Growth in right wing support among young men, a rightward shift among older millenials and Gen X, and then older people shifting to the left.

But even if we're being charitable, the Conservatives got, at best, 40% of the 18-34 vote. So young people certainly aren't voting Conservative en masse. Particularly when turnout in that age group is barely over 50% most of the time.
