It was literally 1 (one) reporter out of the entire assembled group of reporters/journalists, I’m just pointing this out because I get the feeling that you wouldn’t like that you’re inadvertently insinuating that the CBC journalists who were in attendance aren’t partisan drones. One of Canada's top Mounties says there was a recording of a conference call with the RCMP commissioner that sparked concerns of political interference — but it has since been deleted.
Deputy Commissioner Brian Brennan testified Friday about the recording before the Mass Casualty Commission leading the public inquiry into the 2020 Nova Scotia mass shootings.
Brennan said Dan Brien, director of media relations with the RCMP, recorded at least some of the phone call. Brennan was also on the April 28, 2020, call with Commissioner Brenda Lucki and high-ranking Nova Scotia RCMP officers and civilian staff.
Brennan said he was aware of an internal RCMP investigation into where the recording was and whether it could be retrieved, but has been told the recording is gone.
"It doesn't exist because Mr. Brien has deleted it from whatever phone he was using," Brennan said.

The difference is PP repeatedly called Akin a Liberal reporter. At a press conference. That’s quite a bit different from Harper complaining that the Ottawa press gallery are biased. Akin isn’t even anti-Conservative - he’s mainly worked for the National Post, Globe and Mail, and the Sun chain. But to PP it’s enough that he works for a mainstream media outlet. He’s feeding the conspiracy theory that the legacy media are all on the payroll of the Liberal party.

Our province is unfortunately full of ****ing idiots, as sad as it is to say and as much as I defended where I grew up for most of my life. But yeah, that stuff isn't going to work to win a federal election.

I said it yesterday on here, but if PP wants to win the next federal election he needs to cut out the 'conspiracy-theory' 'online-troll' vibe he gives off. He needs to be the mature one in the room and cultivate a positive vision for Canada.

Once Akin started interrupting him yesterday, he should have talked to Akin like a disappointed father would talk to his son. A sort of "you're better than this". Canadians (in my mind anyways) would have seen Akin as the idiot in the situation. Instead, PP decided to match Akin's stupidity with his own brand of stupidity.

PP can drop the 'woke', 'radical', 'liberal news' whatevers, and leave it to the actual online trolls that support him. They will gladly spin that narrative for him. I'd hope he'd pivot and now rise above it all. But so far, it's not looking good.

As someone who hoped that PP would run in the leadership race and was glad that he won, I agree with everything that you said.

I think that this is a teachable moment for him. There's a difference between running for leadership and now being a leader, and there are ways to diffuse situations.

The reporter was being a child, thus he should have been treated like one. PP should have been the "adult in the room", and I'm sure that he regrets the interaction. He's a smart guy, I just think that he forgot that he's not a candidate for leadership anymore and that those things that worked for you with a portion of the "base" don't necessarily work with the wider electorate.

I will admit i do not know much about the press dynamics when making a speech/remarks; but i think questions typically come after the remarks.

However, PP folded so quick in that scrum. The pressure got to him there. What happens when there is a real scandal?
