They were the hardest choice for me too, made me realize I liked U2 a lot more then I ever thought. They really don't have any 1 song that stands out above the rest, a lot of really good songs though. Great band.

We could collaborate on the second list. I just grabbed band names off my iPod that have big bodies of work, and are relatively well-known.

Is Frank Zappa kind of like The Grateful Dead? Has a huge following and people know of them, but nobody really knows any of their songs?

I'm cognizant of Zappa and his contributions to music, but I couldn't name more than a couple of his tracks. Jewish Princess, Cocaine Decisions, and that's only because of their hilarious names and imressions. Granted, I have a difficult time remember the titles to songs and albums anyway.
While I enjoy most of his music, I never find myself choosing to listen to any of it.
Ironically, I guess, I like Ween.

Zappa feels the same as Joe Satriani to me. I don't deny their talent, I just don't like the music they make.

Surpised by how many aren't into Steely Dan. I have the entire classic catalog, and even one of the newer records. Steely Dan and The Hip were the two toughest for me to pick a favorite!

Because I think the thread will be more interesting if we question some people's lists, I have to ask, why is "you know, you're right" your favourite nirvana song.

How DARE you....
The song has a very eerie feel to it, and I have always loved eerie sounding music. I love the minor chords. I suppose that the fact that it was their last recording only adds to that eeriness. Specifically, I love the ending and how quietly it goes out with no resolution, like that melody could be playing forever.
On the list, I tried not to use covers. My favorite Nirvana recording is without a doubt "Where Did You Sleep Last Night (In The Pines)." but I didn't choose it because it is not their song. The other two songs in the running were "Something In The Way" and "Pennyroyal Tea".

Yeah, I love that song, too. Also, I always found the lyrics a little haunting as well, considering the timing, very tortured and dark.
