Leaves the Flames I believe with 2.2m left in cap space.
Enough for some PTOs I think.
Unless some trades happen this is the roster.
With a 23 man roster the Flames have 2.25 in cap space available. Of course they would have to remove one contract from the roster so that means they can fit a 3m player.
It's obvious Bradley Benjamin Stanley Richardson needed to be signed in order to part of the Eichel trade. Buffalo couldn't get him for under $850k so they let Brad work his negotiating magic.
I had to include the full name. It's awesome!
Brad had yet another obscure fringe free agent signing in him. It's just funny at this point. What difference are Pitlicks, Lewises and Richardsons doing to elevate a team that already lacks the punch needed in the top six.
Putting more strips of duct tape on a beater essentially.
All it does is add some toughness to a team in an era that is skill based and pushes the kids with potential further down the chart.

Hey, it's worked perfectly 0% of the time! You can't change the mold at this stage!
(...the team really is doing it's typical off-season rubbish...the one saving grace may be that Darryl Sutter is the coach, which seems to be what Treliving is betting this entire season on...)
As far as the argument being "hey kids, you just have to be better than 36 year old so and so", that's just not how it works. Coaches, to the team's detriment, trust veterans over youth. It screws up player development and team success.
This off-season has been pathetic. This off-season is 100% dependent on "intangibles".
Well, perhaps if our skilled guys like Gaudreau/Tkachuk/Monahan/Lindholm would pick it the f up we wouldn't be devoid of skill or flash
That's true. And they've shown that they either don't have it in them to sustain high level play, or just have trouble staying motivated.
This past season was supposed to be half of the core's swan song, but apparently we underestimated this management's resolve to continue defining insanity.
Treliving must really, reeeally believe in Gaudreau, Tkachuk and Monahan.
He might make the team out of camp, especially if they don't bring in anyone else, but I'm not pencilling him into my opening night roster quite yet. He's still waiver exempt, so he's easy to send down.
I suspect we'll see one of the UFA d-men still on the market signed to take up some of the cap space they still have (e.g., Gudbranson, Gustafsson, Vatanen).
