Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
T.J. Brodie's extension with CGY not done yet but if/when it's done, expectation is it will likely be 5 years with AAV north of $4.5M.

I'm glad this may not be longer than 5 years, contracts of 6+ years make me nervous regardless of the player.

Thats a pretty nice deal for the Flames if Brodie continues to develop the way he has.....

Was hoping for max term, but that's a decent AAV.

Yup, it's a little scary that his total breakout is just around a season, but I still feel this will be as much a steal in a few years as our current Giordano contract

Anything under $5 million for anything over 5 years seems like an incredibly solid deal.

Too early to celebrate a low average given we don't know what it might be. Bob's tweet noted an average north of $4.5M. That could be anything from $4.6M to $6.5M or more.

McKenzie doesn't usually tweet numbers unless they are in the ball park. North of $4.5M means higher than $4.5M but not that much higher.

How many UFA years does that eat up, 3?

Nice.
8 year terms are too much, I hope they leave that for franchise players, preferably after the team has become a contender.

Brodie's extension
It was awesome to hear about Brodie's extension and it is anticipated that it would work out well. T.J. Brodie is an inspiration performer and his line pairing with Giordano is working tremendously.

Even if it was 5x5 would love it - seeing that they would be locking in a key building block.

The way he is playing that's a steal compared to what other players are being paid. He's a top 20 defender in the NHL
