Sort of flimsy evidence.
Personally, I've read articles from The Hockey Writers and the Hockey News stating under 7 was realistic.
Tim & Sid also had a segment yesterday regarding Gaudreau where they showed his contract comparables as Forsberg, Monahan, and Mackinnon. None of whole are making an AAV over 6.5.
That's not meant to convince, it's just more specific than "other forums" and "comments."
I would wager the common prediction is 7-7.5, anything over or under that would fall into a minority category for sure.

I have a unsubstantial argument? Psh, go look up my evidence. I'm indisputably correct until proven otherwise!

With all due respect - why on earth do you care, or should we care, about what people on other forums are saying?
I also have a feeling that you are locked in on people and opinions that are aligned with yours, and are somewhat deaf to people who don't agree.

So assuming that Treliving is starting at 6.5, Gaudreau's camp is at 8 and they both want term I hope some common sense prevails and they can meet at 7.25 for 7 or 8 years. It makes a lot of sense for both sides.

I don't, just evidence that I'm not the only person who believes he is worth north of 7.5, as many like to claim.

There really is no chance it's under 7 million if it is for 7 or 8 years
If it's 6 years then I think you go up to $6.9 max. He's worth more but his 5 RFA years is what would hold the cards in the Flames hands. He decided to go the college route and knew the consequences if he did. He now has to live with them.

Is North of $7.5, $7.59? Or close to $8 million?

Man, there's nothing wrong with thinking Gaudreau's worth is higher than that. There's not even anything wrong with discussing why you think that is. I don't even necessarily disagree with you.
But, what he's "worth" and what he signs for are two separate things. And, you don't need to throw thread-filled rants about why you think you're right whenever people disagree with you. Stop pounding your desk. You think what you do, others think otherwise. Both have been well-established.

Yeah. I could say right now that Lance Bouma is worth $6 million a season. That'd be my opinion, but that wouldn't mean that it'd be acceptable to cite as fact/evidence to support an argument that Bouma is severely underpaid. Sure, it'd be a fan's opinion, but would I be a smart fan? So, I wouldn't be calling HFBoards a reputable source when really, it's just a cluster of fans on the internet who -- for the most part -- aren't dialed in to the Flames. If anything, I'd value the opinion of Calgarypuck users over that of Carolina Hurricane fans.

I think if it's 7 years, then it will be high $6s
The only way it is north of $7M IMO (low 7s) is if it's 8 years.
You don't pay over $7M for 5 RFA and 2 UFA years.

Oh come on, it's like you're not even trying any more. You should simplify this, and go with an "at least one person claims" argument and then quote yourself.

The only thing I don't get is why someone who clearly thinks the majority of CP is wrong, against them, prone to flawed logic, and who doesn't mind insulting the general population by pointing these things out... would even stay?
I don't go to a restaurant, hate the food, and proceed to go back every day and tell them how much I hate the food and how much better the food is somewhere else. I go somewhere else.
Gaudreavertime, dying to hear your explanation.

Because the question of 'What will Johnny's contract be' won't be answered for a few weeks, let's address another question:
Who exactly is Gaudreauvertime?
Beyond a fanatic Gaudreau fan, I have a few other tin foil hat conspiracies. The poster seems so dedicated to swaying the conversation that there must be some ulterior motive. A friend or family of Gaudreau perhaps.
But the amount of effort and unrelenting insistence on arguing his side seems over the top, even for a friend. Would his (inexperienced) agent's office bother sending ground crews to popular fan sites? Given how much backlash and disdain the poster has created for these outrageous contract proposals, I'm guessing that this is unlikely.
Finally, the poster seems to argue for Gaudreau with complete dismissal of the team's best interests. It wouldn't be the first time we saw another team's delusional fan go 'undercover' here.
Of course, it wouldn't be the first time we saw a simply delusional fan of one player with nothing better to do but spam a fan forum.
