Burke and Treliving are playing the old car salesman's game of, "Oh, I don't think my manager will like this ... I'll have to go see if he'll accept this offer ... Boy, you drive a hard bargain, but he says he'll take it."

Baertschi was red hot before that comment. All projections until that training camp was that Baertschi was going to be a special top 6 forward. Now he's starting to get some his game back and he could end up panning out to being a pretty good player

Are we sure Friedman is correct on this, and that he wasn't confused with Ryan Lochte?

And that has absolutely nothing to do with Gaudreau's and Monahan's contract. Just a whiny, off topic post.

Meh. Bärtschi scored at a better pace in all his seasons in Calgary except '14-'15. 28 points in 69 games is not great.

Get the deal done.
I honestly think any sort of gap is coming from the player side, specifically Gaudreau. I can't see how Monahan basically isn't done. There are multiple comparables with very similar deals that would be decent for both sides. Gaudreau is the tricky one where he can concievably be considered one of the best players in the game, but has only had a short time to show it, so your not really sure. Arguments can be made on the agent's side for $ in the 8-9 million range +, where I'm sure the Flames would like to keep it reasonable and between 7-8. And different terms can have different advantages for either side.

Its a complicated process, and taking a while doesn't necessarily mean there is animosity involved. Certainly not with Gaudreau personally because he is barely involved in the process.

My guess is the only reason Monahan isn't announced is that they (the Flames)want to do it at the same time.

Well actually, with Burke making comments about Gaudreas contract and now Gaudreau's agent responding, it's on topic to mention Burkes inability to keep out of the media.

Inability? Burke can talk to the media if he wants. He doesn't do it often.

And yes Burke talking about Baertschi needing to play hard in all 3 zones has absolutely nothing to with Burke saying they will pay fair value for Monny/Johnny. The two points are completely unrelated.

As I said, whiny off topic post.

In a way, it's actually kinda fun to let yourself panic about the contracts. Keeps things interesting during the summer.

I have too much work on my desk to expend time and energy on panicking.

Its an awful last name to have, Bigshot. It puts so much unwarranted expectation and pressure on a person. Whats worse, his first name is Geeves. Which contradicts his last name in those respects.

I wish Burke would STFU.

Nothing is to be gained by him making public statements.

How awesome would it be to be named "Warren Buffett"? I mean, as far as name combinations go, that one is the gold standard.
