I'd argue the loss of Brodie to start the season had a bigger impact, but the goaltending was just atrocious across the board.
I also believe that management knows how important the start of the season is. Look at their first 5 games. They have a legit shot to go 5-0 to start. They'll get this done.
I wonder how much of the delay is because Gaudreau and Kucherov's agents are both trying to wait until the other one is signed so they'll have a comparable to negotiate against?
I bet once one of them signs, the other will sign shortly after.
Yeah, and neither one wants to be the one that ruins it for the other.

Hopefully Kucherov doesn't sign for a lot or the Flames might be in trouble because Gaudreau will be making more. Though I doubt Yzerman hands out a bad contract here, but there is the Russian factor...
Has there been any news since the end of the world cup for him? I haven't seen anything new and thought maybe I have missed it.

The Bolts have less cap space, so that may force him lower. Add in the Marchand contract and Panarin asking for 6x6 and the Gaudreau pressure point may be slipping under 8M soon.
