Johnny and Lewis are also shafting Brad. Why would he want to sign the deal?

Conroy explicitly left US cities to play in Calgary and then permanently decided to stay in Calgary following his career as a player.
I could see JG being young and intimidated, if there's any substance to this notion of being an American in a Canadian culture. But frankly I don't buy it unless he has the personality of Tim Thomas

There are a variety of reasons why NHL stars prefer to play in the U.S. Climate, proximity to family (for Americans), taxes, media attention, ease of air travel (direct flights).

I still think that this question needs to be addressed as a major factor in this discussion.

During negotiations Gaudreau likes to put on his serious face and be called John.

I didn't mean 'support' as an average or bad player. I like both of those players and would love to have them on the Flames. But there's no rush to trade JG so if they did they better be getting at least a star back in return to make it worth their while.

Sounds like a conspiracy.

Yup, the World Cup roster with the fewest players from Canadian-based teams is Team Canada, and as you said, that number doubled with the Subban trade.
Should we be worried that Canadian players don't want to play in Canada now?
Fewer than 25% of the teams in the NHL are based in Canada (until the Thrashers moved to Winnipeg, it was an even 20%), and for the last decade two of them have been historically bad (and the others have had their weak seasons too). It shouldn't really be a surprise than Canadian teams aren't better represented at these tournaments.
Really, at the end of the day, it really doesn't matter if 99.9% of US-born players say they do or don't want to play in Canada. All that matters is this one specific player.
Craig Conroy and Joel Otto are two US-born players who played for Team USA numerous times and played both in Canada and the US and both decided to retire in Calgary.

Rene Corbet is similar - he's a very Francophone Quebecker but settled here after a very limited time with the Flames.

He's not identifying a problem - he's identifying a reason Johnny would want to sign. Every day sitting out partially negates any gain in the contract amount.

If Gaudreau isn't signed early into the season, he could theoretically sign in the KHL for a season like Giordano did and make up any lost money. I don't think he would hold out and not play anywhere and lose all that casheesh.

If you thought the 3 Goalie issue was a yuge distraction last year, Gaudreau's contract stalemate is going to be 10 times worse.

The thing is that thread served no purpose, I can find hot women anywhere. But see I can't find this kind of comedy anywhere else, so this thread needs to stay.

Was it a huge distraction to the players last year? I tend to think the early season performance would not have been much better with a standard rotation of any two of the three Flames goalies in 2015.

I wonder how much of the delay is because Gaudreau and Kucherov's agents are both trying to wait until the other one is signed so they'll have a comparable to negotiate against?
I bet once one of them signs, the other will sign shortly after.
