There's also a reason those two are on a local AM radio show....

There's a reason you're on a local Calgary Flames forum for free and those two are making a living talking about the Flames.

One.
You know how many players have had one or two top 10 seasons?
There's a reason those two are on a local AM radio show....
|
Hosting a AM sports talk radio show in a major Canadian market is a VERY prime gig. Morning radio is where the money is.
So not sure why you would use that as some sort of shot against them.

You can't overpay a guy like Gaudreau. It seems like this whole process is a bit silly. With players like this you ask how much and for how long and you keep them happy.

There is no way that Johnny is going to the WCH without a contract. Like, not a chance. There's no way his insurance will cover him for even a fraction of the amount that a 60 million dollar contract will. If he has a career ending injury during that tournament, that's it for him.
His agent will never let it happen, not only for Johnny's sake, but for his sake. Losing out on that guaranteed commission? Good luck.

What makes you think that Johnny won't buy his own insurance ????? Duh , did you ever think of that ?

Who wants to puke in a pair of sweatpants?
If I'm puking in another man's pants, they better be fancy. The man you're looking for is peter12. Puke into a classy pair of trousers that's what you want.

...he already did. Keep up with the discussion. An insurance payout that Gaudreau would take out would not insure him for the same amount as a guaranteed 50 million dollar contract. The monthly premiums on that would more than likely be well more than he made last year.

Cause I probably make more money at my job than I would as an AM radio host? It would be cool to talk hockey for money though. I'd simply troll you all day.
Point still stands. If what people were saying on here is right and they were saying that it'll take 10 million to sign Gaudreau then they're out to lunch.

I think it comes somewhere in between those - if it's 8 years.
If it's less than 8 years, it will be less than Giordano's AAV.

That's a wet dream for Flames management, there's no way it will be that low. That's probably closer to what the Flames are offering than to what this contact will end up being. The Tarasenko comparison is apt, and Johnny knows we can't afford to trade him given where the rebuild is at with him being our one star forward in a hyper-obsessed hockey market.
Might as well brand us Oilers 2.0 if they can't figure this out and JG knows it. He's in a better bargaining position than people realize. In the event of a holdout, worst case is for management is it costs Treliving his job if it causes too much damage to the season... with JG, there really is no consequence outside of lost wages, especially with the WC here to keep him in game shape.
