8 years with probably like $7.25 million AAV is my guess.
Year 1: $6,000,000
Year 2: $6,000,000
Year 3: $6,000,000
Year 4: $7,000,000
Year 5: $7,000,000
Year 6: $8,000,000
Year 7: $9,000,000
Year 8: $9,000,000

If Johnny holds out then we know he was full of bs when he said he didn't really care much about the financials etc. I'm sure he's not going to hold out.

Why Taylor Hall though...seems like a proposal designed to get a reaction, it has

Nobody knows what the numbers are behind the scenes so stop assuming. Also your proposals are often wack so stop that too.

So you mean like the $10 mill that Stamkos wanted and so he could play in his home town? Nobody knows what is being asked/offered so quoting numbers is something the "hockey experts" (cough, Friedman, cough) throw out for hits on twitter.

On the north side, the Tarasenko contract at $7.5M
On the south side, a match of Giordano's $6.75M
I think it comes somewhere in between those - if it's 8 years.
If it's less than 8 years, it will be less than Giordano's AAV.

8 years and you have to pay for potential
|
Not even close. Three RFA years is not worth anything close to $21M. Try $15M.
In order to get an AAV of $7M, it will take multiple UFA years.

You're one of the most obvious trolls around here nowadays.
Good job staying afloat as long as you have I guess

If he was on a better team you can easily argue that Stanley cups/playoff accolades would easily be in the cards. Kane/Toews only went up to 6.3 AAV in their second deals respectively, however, that was a long time ago. That 6.3 AAV is probably more like 8.0 AAV this year imho.
Considering the Flames essentially do not have a team without Guadreau/Monohan, I would wager that fair value is even further up the ladder as the players and agents are fully aware of this.

Steven Stamkos just got $8.5M per from Tampa as a UFA at 26, with multiple 50 goal seasons and a 60 goal one thrown in for good measure.
Gaudreau is gonna get paid. His cap hit won't start with an 8.

1) by the time that Kane and Toews were Johnny's age they had a SC ring and 50 playoff games.
2) when Tavares finished off his 22 year season ( the same as Gaudreau) that was his 3rd year in a row where he was basically a ppg player.
3) the Flames with Monahan and Gaudreau performing at a level that we are talking 6M+ long term contracts finished 26th in the league (ie not far from essentially not having a team) ... a loss in the last meaningless game of the year would have put them tied for 3rd last in the league ... there is a heck of a lot riding on it was all the goalies fault theory

This news actually more reassuring to me more than anything.
There is no way that Johnny is going to the WCH without a contract. Like, not a chance. There's no way his insurance will cover him for even a fraction of the amount that a 60 million dollar contract will. If he has a career ending injury during that tournament, that's it for him.
His agent will never let it happen, not only for Johnny's sake, but for his sake. Losing out on that guaranteed commission? Good luck.

I could see the Agent trying to get 6 years at huge money and the Flames pushing for 8
As I mentioned in the Gaudreau-Monahan thread we should sign Johnny for the full 8 and go 7 years with Monahan. The Flames would be faced with one key UFA every year 4 years from now
4 years - Brodie
5 years - Hamilton
6 years - Gio (retire)
7 years- Monahan
8 years - Gaudreau
9 years - Bennett??
