There is 5 goalies that are pretty decent, Jake Paterson, Oskar Dansk, Malcom Subban, Vasilevski and Brandon Whitney. You can use your 3rd and get one of them likely and they are all pretty good. No need to use a 1st or 2nd even on one.

That doesn't make any sense. I'd say it's the opposite. You trade down because you have faith in your scouts seeing something in guys who haven't been picked yet that you know you'll get a steal even if you drop down.

Actually could be the opposite as they have some guys in mind and dont see too much of a difference between 14 and 21. If you can get your guy at 21 and another quality guy in the 2nd it was worth it.

I would argue its the opposite, if the scouts feel someone is a steal at 20, then trading down shows confidence in that.

I like how the panel is talking about picks at 18/19 like they're going to be the next sakic. And on their website, the "notable picks" at 18 are Fehr, Orpik, and Stwart. Yep, totally gonna be the next Sakic.

Flames will take Jankowski. He's also a year younger than most in the first round so far (except Teravainen)

Trading down is pretty much a vote of confidence in the scouts. Which seems about right with how we seem to be drafting lately.

Goalie seems completely out of the question now.

If you have confidence in your scouts, you take quality over quantity. If you believe that the draft is a crapshoot, quantity over quality.

I see it as the complete opposite. The scouts are saying that the guy we want will still be available at #21, so trade #14.

Makes me so jealous watching all these prospect rich teams picking twice in the top 20.
