Hi Tim, I have a question. About a year ago I leased an '07 X5 and because it was a new model year could not get a very good rate. Now a year later I have been hammered by the rise of the C$ such that in two years when my lease is up my buy out will be greater than the value of the car. Do you think BMW will renegotiate my lease? Thanks.

I saw an SUV today, I think it was a Ford Escape. It had a big lemon on the side and the words "Thanks Maclin Ford!"

That's it. I just thought it was funny.

Go to www.gmcanada.com under finance tools there is the appraise trade in value tool. Its a link to the canadian black book site. Just follow the instructions and it will give you the blackbook value. Thats the $ value that dealerships will offer you. If you want to see what its worth private sale I suggest checking out www.canadatrader.com. I would search for similar vehicles and see what people are asking. Somewhere in the middle between the black book value and the private sale value is what your vehicle is worth.

The wholesale value is around $5000 today.. so retail is likely in the $7500 range

Does anyone know where I can find a list of new vehicle prices, for all Toyota and Hondas? Thanks.

Yeah I've been there, the problem with those sites is that they don't actually give you the real pricing, and they don't provide a list - you must manually "build" your car each time you want to know the price.

Yup. We saved a member $3000.00 (after paying us interest) by having him get his loan through us and pay the dealership "cash".

<rant on>It has always been a pet peeve of mine. Everybody wants to buy a car for nothing. How do people expect car dealers to stay in business to service them if we can't make a profit. <rant off>

[/h quote]

Sorry to keep picking on your pet peeve but is it worth it for the salesman for me to walk in and say, "Give me invoice plus $250 and I will sign the papers for a vehicle on your lot right now."? He has no overhead, no wasted time. I know what vehicle and options I want, he just has to write it up. Does he make anything off of that deal or just add one to his sold board?

The last vehicle I bought, I was basically offered this to buy an 06 instead of doing the family plan pricing on an 05 as they didn't have any limited 05's on the lot. Now I want to buy a new vehicle and don't want to do the same.

Tim,

If you're still around and checking this thread. I want to know what I should look for (problem areas and such) when buying a used vehicle. I have had my eye on some cars that I could potentially get (Late 90s, early 2000s Mazda Protege, Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, and the likes)

Thanks in advance.

Not an answer to your questions, but you might also want to look at an Acura EL. My GF bought a 2001 today, nice car, same sort of class as what you mentioned.

How does European Delivery benefit BMW? My husband and I think its a phenomenal deal - we get 3000 off the car AND a buy 1 get 1 free ticket (so essentially 1 free ticket) to Germany, AND you get to pick up the car at the BMW factory place including a tour. This seems too good to be true.........

What price range is it in? Because I am a student so I don't have too much money for a vehicle, the cars I mentioned fall under are around the 5K -7K range.

There are a few things you have to figure in additionally.. at least with MB which is what my experience is with.. you also have to buy insurance from them which is expensive also the shipping... Basically what you end up saving is the cost of renting a car for the time that you are there. It is a great program though. I would highly reccommend it to anyone

I am a total newbie when it comes to cars. And I see a lot of listings online that says the car is certified and e-tested. I don't know if that is a provincial thing (Ontario) or a national thing. But if you could tell me what exactly does it mean for a car to be certified and e-tested, that would be great.

Thanks again.
