This is the best timing and team for a trade to benefit Calgary and Andersson”s value

Now we wait (please oh please)

Nobody expected Huberdeau to drop like he did, for Sutter to go insane, and for the team to completely implode.

It always seemed a little crazy to me to try and rebuild your main core on the fly with free agents after losing your two best players.

And its not like they were some perennial power house at that moment. they missed the playoffs the year before. You the have a great regular season and get knocked out in the 2nd round.

But we dont have to rehash this. Its been talked about many times before on here.

Hopefully, nobody is using the Hughes trade as a measuring stick for any trade involving Kadri, Andersson, or Coleman. Getting a first would be ideal in any trade, plus maybe a B-prospect.

Always hope for less, and you won't be disappointed, lol.

Yes, but also optimistic if there's a bidding war. Andersson is the best d-man available on the market.

I would be happy with even just a 1st for any of them.

The most important thing is to help our 1st round draft pick, drafting in the top 4 alone would be worth it to me.

Andersson and Kadri are both in the top 20 in the NHL scoring in the last month. Trading those 2 would really benefit the tank.

patience is a virtue

Ras is worth more today than yesterday...not sure why anyone thinks what happened today is negative towards the Flames in any way. That central division playoffs is gonna be something. We need the Oilers in 8th or worse.

Lol if Dallas comes out of the Central again and plays Edmonton, they will choke like usual.

That franchise is absolutely pathetic when it matters in the playoffs. They always let the Oilers cruise past them. Cheering for Colorado.

I just watched the Chase episode 4. I find it very hard to believe that Andersson was ever a problem in the locker room.

In every scene with him he comes across as one of the leaders on the team. And in his interview talks about how much he loves Calgary. If I didn't know any better, I would swear he was about to sign a long extension based on the clips shown.

Also Cooley is a very interesting guy. He should make his own YouTube channel. I hope we extend him next year, he is becoming a fan favorite.

I hope so too, but I think we’re looking at January.

I’d be a bit disappointed, although not totally surprised, if nothing happens until after the Olympics.

If I were in Conroy’s shoes I’d prioritize a mid January Andersson trade. Move him before the Olympics. Collect the first round pick and on to the next.

Heavily edited locker room footage shows Andersson being positive, more news at 11!

He’s on the flames right now, he isn’t extending.
Team is an actively watching the market and listening to offers.

He’s signing a huge extension today, 4PM.

You worry a little too much, it’s not if he’s gone it’s when.

After the Hughes trade, the Wild have a Kadri sized hole in their lineup. Would they be a good trade partner in such a deal? They have a couple of highly touted prospects in Yurov, and Jiricek, but I haven't been that big of a fan of either.

That said, Minnesota could definitely be a part of Kadri's No trade list. Hopefully they would at least help drive the price up.

Except that they and everyone they know publicly say they do constantly, and historically they have always followed this path dogmatically.

Why believe its different until theres actual evidence that it is? They did exactly this last year and told us they were doing it.

I kinda don’t see Minnie as being on Kadri’s list. If he was being political it’s not one of the states he’s want to avoid. If he was trying to cut down on teams that needed him to avoid being traded, at the time Minnie had two good centres. But yeah, now they cold really use him. Unless this Yurov experiment keeps working that is.

If anything, I think this trade greases the wheels for the Andersson trade. Hughes is off the market, so if you were a team in the hunt for a D, the shelf just got a little more empty.

But then you hear from insiders that Kadri and Coleman are not being shopped and will not be traded unless they ask out basically.

If any team can screw this up, it is Murray Edwards, Don Maloney and the Calgary Flames. I have faith that Conroy knows what needs to be done, I just doubt he is going to be allowed to do it with the other stooges who are above him in the organization.
Only if you pick and choose which insiders you are listening to.

Steinberg has been pretty clear all week that the Flames had a US Thanksgiving timeframe, and haven't had the recent slate of wins change their direction at all.

It will be interesting to see which team will be perceived to have a brighter future at the deadline and then again after the draft between the Canucks and Flames.

The Hughes trade gives Van pieces like Rossi and Buium who are comparable to Coronato and Parekh. Flames obviously have Wolf who is a huge piece. Coates and Reschny are certainly comparable.

Both teams poised to pick high next year and both have veterans they can move to bolster their futures.

Will be interesting to track over the next couple of years
