What about the possibility of a #1 C being Reschny or Potter?

He's the same guy that was elite in FLA, just older.
If he gets back to pt/game then I would call that elite. Has not happened yet, doesn't mean it can't. He has a good attitude. Skill is still there. He is super fit.

The possibility is there, but if it was a strong possibility they probably don't go in the 2nd half of the 1st round.

I’d say hes got about the same value Ferland did, and tossing him into a trade helped get the deal done

My only worry about Pospisil is that players like him are a candle in the wind.

He is an intriguing player, but as Diss has pointed out, he takes as many or more penalties as he draws.
Also, I think Huska's style is a tight defensive and disciplined game. Marty is a bit of a wildcard in that system - can't really play his game. Klapka fits much better IMO.
If packaging Marty with Ras gets us a potential #1C then we have to move him.

And while he agitates like Tkachuk, he's obviously not got Tkachuk's other attributes. Plus people forget that while Tkachuk got under other players' skins, sometimes they elevated their play because of him. Doughty had the last laugh playing against Tkachuk.

Yeah, and I think this team will do well over the next couple of seasons to be a low key, less smash mouth, type of team. Stealing points from better teams.
Swagger works best when the whole team can back it up.

To me that is Klapka at this point. This camp to me he looks more like a 13th forward than the guy we saw at the last quarter of the previous season.

He absolutely is an elite winger when used in the right system. He scored 115 points in a season, you don't do that unless you have elite talent. He has had to totally change the way he plays to become effective in a low scoring system. Put him on a high end line on a team like Colorado and he would hit around 100 points every year.

So, I looked at the Flames depth and organized it by overall draft pick (just to sort it) and by position (per flames website. Gives a good idea on depth).

Huberdeau (3)
Farabee (14)
Honzek (16)
Coleman (75)
Suniev (80)
Hunt (N/A)
Lomberg (N/A)
C
Kadri (7)
Backlund (24)
Zary (24)
Frost (27)
Kirkland (62)
Pospisil (105)
Bishop (127)
Sherangovich (141)
Kerins (174)
Morton (N/A)
RW
Coronato (13)
Gridin (28)
Klapka (N/A
LD
Bean (13)
Grushnikov (48)
Kuznetsov (50)
Bahl (55)
Solovyov (205)
Cisek (N/A0
Hanley (N/A)
RD
Parekh (9)
Andersson (53)
Brzustewicz (75)
Weegar (206)
Miramanov (N/A)
Pachal (N/A)
G
Prosvetov (114)
Wolf (214)
Cooley (N/A)
Say (N/A)
Pretty easy to say we are lacking at natural RW. Then I looked to see natural RW drafted in the top 2 rounds in the age group we seem to be targeting and these are the names that popped up. Not a huge list.
RW
Owen Tippett
Eili Toivanen
Jason Robertson
Simon Holmstrom
Jonatan Berggren

Powerplay Quarterback

Hub4deau is not elite. Man we are starved for real skill, the bar has gotten so low.
Hes 3 season of a 62 points of below. He hasn't shown elite skill his entire time here.
And dont give me this BS of no talent here. Gaudreau and Pasta put 100+ pts with lindholm as their center. Its not like Kadri is some talentless schmuck. plus Huberdeau is paid to be THE driver.
