I think Farabee being a cap dump and the Flames not selling right now both can be true.
Him and Frost were not Briere/Jones players and he was struggling last year. Flyers decided that they had guys like Tippett and Cates in this age group who could do this job. Plus with a lot of picks in the coming draft and multiple selections in the first two rounds preceding this draft they were going to need to open up some spots.
The Flames lack 24-28 year old forwards and should be moving on from some older guys in the next couple of years. So it does offer a potentially better fit.

Don't see much of a need for a LH 4th line C in Krebs.
Rather take a shot on a guy who has scored 20 and is still young.
Would definitely trade Farabee but not of Krebs.

No to Krebs, but do it for someone like Quinn!
Farabee is a fine player, I think he's better than some options we have in house on the LW for sure. Bad luck last season. BUT if we can turn him into a similar forward with maybe less grit and a rhs I think we should do that. We seriously lack RHS wingers in the entire organization.

I’m hoping one of Honzek, Gridin, Basha, Suniev or Stromgren show well at camp and earn a spot on the roster.

Who would we trade if not one of them?
Huberdeau - no, contract
Coronato - no, core
Sharangovich- no, value too low
Zary - no, young, could be a key piece and value too low
Klapka - no, unique attributes and want to see what he truly is
Pospisil - no, unique attributes and just re-signed
Lomberg - no, 4th liner
I think the team really needs to consider trading Coleman. He is a year removed from 30 G and has a strong reputation around the league. He has value even if his season last year wasn't the strongest offensively.

I 100% agree. Coleman out gives everyone the opportunity to prove themselves and allows a new kid to start on the 4th line like Coronato did last year.
I see Farabee replacing Coleman
Farabee in the 3rd line, leaves a spot open in the top 6.
Huberdeau
Kadri
Coronato
Frost
Zary
Sharangovich
Klapka
1 of these guys could play with Backlund and Farabee, the others make up the top 6. A prospect plays well like Coronato did and they have room to move up the roster. Farabee plays well, maybe he earns a top 6 role.
Coleman loses his value of you demote him to the 4th line. He is a great mentor, but I believe we have that covered without him.
Pospisil is already mentoring a guy like Honzek. Weegar, Backlund, Kadri. We are fine in the leadership department

If Ras is back, do we see Parekh playing with Pachal and Hanley with Weegar?
Q Hughes was 19 his rookie year and got 21+ mins a game.
Ras - 24
Weegar - 24
Bahl - 22
Parekh - 20
Pachal/Hanley/Kuznetsov/Bean get around 15 a night.
Not a fan of Ras with Weegar or Zayne with Weegar. Maybe Bahl is a 3rd pairing guy, but I'm not seeing a long term fit with that group and not a lot of room for young players with that top 4.

Just my opinion but it makes zero effing sense to keep Rasmus. Not a big deal it's not my roster or team, I just cheer for them, but unless you're moving Weegar, Rasmus has gots to go!

Agreed, the extension option shouldn't really be looked at further.
Plan should be to trade him. If he's on the team to start the year, fine. Keep listening to offers. Ideally Ras has a good start to the year and the offers improve. More realistically he's just ok, and we accept a lesser deal by the deadline to at least get something.

I really, really hope that bit about Honzek is true, but i fear that is cope.
Rasmus market being bone dry shouldn't be surprising... even though the last time I mentioned it i got maligned as a ne'er do well who talks down our asset value.
I am really stuck on who the duck might be. Zellweger? I have given up on the idea that it's McTavish. Nikita Nesterenko is a lower down guy there I'd take a flyer on too.

I could see either Zellweger and Mintyukov making sense. The Ducks seem to have a lot of depth at LD.

No point having both Rasmus and Weegar signed into their 30s. Team isn’t even close to competing. Hopefully just smokescreen to get things moving on the trade front.

It does seem like a potential McTavish deal with Zary being a big piece going back IMO. There’s some decent incentive for both sides to wait before trading these players.
For Calgary, they can see how Zary does after his injury and if he gets time as one of the top 3 centers to start the year. If he starts to look more and more like a legit #2 center in the making, Conroy might not want to make him the young player going back in a McTavish trade
For Anaheim, they can see how McTavish does with the new coach and see if he keeps the #2 center spot given their options with young centers on the team. If the other players (eg. Gauthier) look better as centers than McTavish does, they might look at trading McTavish for more assets.
Essentially, if Zary looks more like a 2nd/3rd line winger than a center this year and McTavish loses the 2nd line center spot to Gauthier and/or McQueen looks back on track to being a #2 center in college, the fit might be there for both teams to make the trade.

Except the Sharks are (apparently) working on moving Smith to the #2C position. It is one of the things I read when digging into the Sharks prior to the draft. They were starting him out there at the end of last season and their projection for this season is to run Celebrini, Smith, Wennberg as their 1,2,3C.
If they are working on moving Smith to C now, he might not love the idea of being shunted back to the W to make room for Misa (similar to what people are saying about McTavish).

Its a good problem for SJ to have. Whoever can't hack it as a C can slide over to the wing out of Celebrini, Smith and Misa.
I wouldn't be trading top 3 picks until one of these guys proves to be an elite talent in the NHL, and it's just too early to make that call on any of these guys yet.

I mean... this just reinforces the point. Ya, a team can force a player into a different position but if the player doesn't like it then they will ask for a trade.
If McTavish wants out of Anaheim because he feels he is being logjammed or passed on the depth chart (rumoured) then it is conceivable that it would happen to a team like the Sharks where they load up too many guys who all want the same position. None of them are going to be happy with #3C or being punted to the wing if they think they deserve the big job that gets the biggest money.
After Misa's play last season and his climb to #2OA (top forward selected) I doubt he'll entertain the notion of playing for a team that doubts his ability. If the Sharks put Misa on the wing and Misa believes that he can not only play center in the NHL, but he could play as a top line center, then he is going to request a trade to a team that can utilize him that way.
If Misa takes the #2C spot and forces Smith to the wing, then maybe Smith accepts it, or maybe he asks for an out when his ELC runs out.
It will be interesting to see how these situations play out on the Ducks and Sharks, especially as a team actively looking for one of the players that these other teams are overloaded on.
