First let me preface this post by stating that I am an Oilers Fan from back in the Glory Days. ie. City of Champions.
It is interesting that the Oilers have become the unofficial measuring stick for the Flames performance but like it or not the two cities are and will forever be linked.
Over the past 17 years we have lived in Calgary, it was almost impossible to get any news on the Oilers, but now the Young Oilers are mentioned on a Daily basis. Thank you for that.
But yes to the point, if you totally disregard the present standings( I know hard to do) but if you do, come playoff time your beloved Flames have a legitimate chance to go to the finals.
They have not really spent alot of energy in the first half of the Season, your collection of middle aged hockey players will enter the last half of the season rested and relatively injury free.
The Flames have demonstrated they can compete with any team in the league.
Be patient with this Veteran team, come playoff time your "old men" will transform into a group of "rested" and experienced contenders.
There is no one in the West that can compete with you when you are playing Sutter Hockey.
You have one of the premier players in the World, a top 3 goalie and a collection of extremely good players.
I watched the Oilers go all the way to the final a few years ago with half the team you have.
The only problem you may have is a team called the Flyers.
Team Sutter will prevail in the end, you are only 7 points out of a playoff spot.
I can't believe it, I may be rooting on the Flames this Spring.
Be Patient Flames Fans
