Some MORE... Crazy Quirks in the SIM
First off I will address the old ones, and how things have changed. - The Washington Capitals and Ottawa Senators are 0% on the PP, while Columbus is 47% on the PP. As of right now Washington is the only team in playoffs. Washington is still in last place with only 8% success on the PP, Ottawa is at 10% and Columbus' PP has fallen to 22% (5th in the league). Nashville
leads with 27%.
- The Minnesota wild have average 3.08 PIMS per game, while the Chicago Blackhawks have averaged 17.82 PIMS per game. Minnesota is 75% on the PK, while Chicago is 71%. They are currently 5 pts apart in the Standings. Minnesota is now at 4.85 PIMs per game (goons), and Chicago has fallen to only 13.85 PIMs per game. Minnesota's PK has remained at 75%, while Chicago has improved theirs to 77%. Does this account for the fact that the teams are now Tied in the Standings ??
- No player has scored more than one SHG on the season. Rob Neidermyer (TB) has 3 SHG to lead the league. Arron Asham (CAR) and Radek Dvorak (BOS) have two each.
- Kris Versteeg is leading the league in points (25) and currently has a point in every single game to start the season. Versteeg's play has cooled off as of late. He now has 33 pts on the year and has only put up 8 pts in his last 13 games. He is 4 pts behind his STL teamate Olli Jokinen for the league lead.
- Mike Green has 12pts and is a -12 (actually that sounds about right). This is a league worst (tied with teamate Tobias Enstrom). Paul Mara of the Vancouver Canucks leads the league with a +14 (which is really odd). In the 14 games since, Mike Green has put up 8 pts and now sits at -16. This is tied for the league worst with Detroits Phil "I have one nut" Kessel. Enstrom has improved his defensive play and is still at -12. Paul Mara is now a + 8.
- The Toronto Maple Leafs have 4 guys with zero +/- rating, the rest of the team is a minus. Toronto only has one player above a zero rating that has played more than 6 games (Daniel Winnik at +1).
- Vancouver has 5 of the top 10 Players in +/- Only MA "I learned how to play Defense" Bergeron is still in the Top 10 in +/- for Vancouver.
- Only two Defensemen ( Mike Green and Mark Streit) are in the top 50 for Points. Only Mark Streit Remains in the top 50 for points. Green has fallen off his pace.
- There have only been 3 Empty net goals on year. That is 3 goals in 169 Games. Pulling your goalie early might be a good strategy. In 369 GP, only 7 EN goals have been scored. Compare this to the NHL, where Phx and Washington as a team have more EN goals on the year. Why play a Goalie in the 3rd period at all if your team is trailing.
- Montreal has allowed 35.91 Shots per game, and have taken 35.09 shots per game. Talk about a wide open style of play. While New Jersey has taken 27.55 shots per game, and allowed only 31.27 (7th best in the NHL). That is playing the trap in this league as the average shots for and against is 32.69. Montreal has improved their SF (35.88) and their SA (33.00), to have a very solid F/A ratio. New Jersey has allowed more shots (32.76) and taken less shots (27.43) for a very unfavourable F/A ratio. The average shots for and against in the league have decreased to 32.65.
Coming up.. some new Quirks.
