I initiated this deal because I wanted to pick up a prospect I actually like. Doesn't hurt that he's a Leafs prospect either. McKegg scored 37 goals and 48 assists in 67 games for Erie in the OHL last year as a 17 year old, and this year he's got 21 goals and 22 assists in 30 games, and was also named Captain of the team.

I think he definitely has top 6 potential and has a great shot at cracking the Leafs lineup in the next couple years.

I know Rodin was a higher pick than McKegg, but I value players who play in the CHL more than guys who don't, and Rodin has only put up 20 points in 65 games in the SEL. He could be a superstar or he could never see a regular season NHL game. I'm fairly sure McKegg will end up a regular on an NHL roster, even if it isn't the Leafs.

And nobody can tell me Greg McKegg isn't a great hockey name. It's right up there with Zarley Zalapski IMO.

One reason for this trade is that he plays for Brynas of the Swedish League, and is linemates with two of my other prospects Calle Jarnkrok, and Jakub Silfverberg all of whom have been tearing up the SEL this season.

Rodin took a while to adjust to playing against men vs playing against players his own age but has added some height/weight since he was drafted and has been a lot better because of it. He's a very good two way player and is just as likely to play in the NHL as McKegg.

My main motivation is that I hate leafs prospects as I don't think they do a proper job in developing them (Tlusty, Schenn, and Kadri for example) and think that the Canucks do a far superior job of allowing players the time it takes for them to actually develop properly.

Plus I get a pick, so there's that as well.
