I am headed to Mexico in January and would like to tan for a few weeks first to prevent any bad burns from occuring while I am (passed out, drunk) in the sun. Anyone know of any decent tanning places around the city? Any good deals? Anyone tan @ Golds Gym and if so, how much do they charge?
Any help will ne appreciated!

He wasn't asking you if it was safe or not Pinner.
And nobody asked you for your opinion, the difference between our posts is, you posted to be a jerk, and I posted information that will preserve peoples health, something you can never get back.

Good for you. Start a new thread on how tanning is bad for people instead of trying to hijack another thread.
Honest thanks to puckluck for at least trying to keep this ship on course, kudos to you sir!
Not looking for a sermon nor a link to a scientific journal, I understand the risks (and benefits) involved with UV rays and tanning beds.
I will be sure to keep on eye on your blog GoFlamesGo, if you do find something in the next little while I will be all over it!

The thread is about tanning beds, my post was about tanning beds, your the one off topic. What was the point of your post ? It wasn't anything to do with tanning beds, was it.

Back on topic........
Depending on how much you want to tan; most places will let you try their beds out for free the first time- just make a tour of places.
And whatever you do- do not take tropic UV levels for granted. Prior to a trip to the Dominican I always thought the UV index was a scale from 1-10. Nope- it keeps going.

There are probably just as many reports saying tanning is good for you as there are ones that say it's bad. If you don't over do it like Snookie you won't die because of it. Just like anything in life...moderation!

Do they still have the tanning salons where women wear bikinis while servicing you? If those places are still around, go there.

I think a lot of people are underestimating the sun in the tropics. Getting a horrible burn is much much much much worse for you than spending a few minutes in a tanning bed to get a base. Even if you are vigilant with sunscreen you can still easily get burned. Especially if you are at a resort and going in and out of the pool.
I've had two all inclusive vacations. On the first one I went to the tanning salon first for 3 sessions of 5 minutes each. It was enough to give me a base and prevent any burn. The second one I didn't. At some point my sun screen failed on me. I had a burn on one side of my body for the rest of the trip.
Tanning salons are a calculated risk.
OP from what I remember, tanning salons aren't very expensive, the trick is they make you buy minutes in large blocks to get a decent deal. Usually they won't cut you a deal unless you are willing to commit to one of these blocks.
I would just phone around to a lot of places. Find out if the minutes are transferable, and transfer extra minutes to a friend of yours who is a girl.
