I was in vernon this weekend watching the bchl games between the vernon vipers and the prince george spruce kings and i have to say i have never seen worse reffing in my life.

The second game especially, vernon had 16 pp's and PG had 3. Near the end of the game a goalie got ran and a line brawl ensued. 2 Periods of biased, brutal reffing led to this.

Checking out the other final, there was a ton of suspensions/fines in the Nanaimo/Surrey series as well...apparently even players got fined $$ even though they dont get payed. http://www.bchl.bc.ca/leagues/1413/graphic...on%20Notice.pdf

Im just wondering if the refs lose control of games like this in the ajhl too.

The coaches got the fines for losing control of their teams, not the players.

It said certain players got fined $500 as well. Im sure the team would probably pick it up, but that still is the first I've heard of player fines in tier II junior.

Generally, the lower the level the worse the reffing gets. Not always, but in most cases.

The teams were fined for the actions of the players, not the players themselves:

"Surrey Eagles - $500 for player(s) numerous attempts to “charge”
Nanaimo Clippers -$200 for Simon Nolet breaking Surrey stick"

Which team were you cheering for?

I've seen numerous games where one team is totally out of control and is called for way more penalties than the other team. Usually, just as in this case, the referee is blamed for being biased instead of blaming the team for being so out of control.

Sure, I've also seen games where the ref has been horrendously biased as well, but this is by far the exception than the rule. Maybe yours was another one. Maybe it was just your perception, based on your bias for the team you were cheering for. We'll never know.
