Furnace Repair- Who do you use?

I'm currently typing with mittens on, because the furnace has decided to go on strike.

I *think* it's the flame/heat sensor, or the thermocouple- I hear the igniter kick on, run for 5 to 10 seconds, and then it shuts off without actually heating the house.

We've been having this issue since the weekend- I have changed the furnace filter, changed the batteries on the thermostat, and have checked all the thermostat settings, with no change.

The husband is out of town for a while, and I'm not comfortable attempting repairs on my own, especially when I've never had to do it before.

So- who would you recommend?

It sure sounds like the flame sensor to me.

what you can do is make sure the power to the furnace is off and just check and see if the sensor is covered with soot. often, a cleaning with a emery cloth or crumpled up tin foil will be enough to get it working again.
