Lullabies to Paralyze.

Josh Homme just continues to impress me with his creativity. Nobody sounds like this, and that generally makes me a fan of a particular band. Uniqueness.

Great stuff.

A nasty Billy Gibbons lead on "Burn The Witch" too!

The lead singer looks EXACTLY like Craig Kilborn too... anyone else notice that?

I love Queens of the Stone Age! I got their album the day after it came out and I'm impressed again. I've been listening mainly to the first 8 tracks though, the last few seem lacking somewhat.

It's pretty uncanny indeed.

Solid band, I wish they'd play two shows here so I could go.

Great band, great album. As DFF said, they are quite unique. You won't hear anyone sound like them.

Check out the crazy website. Click on the spot where the weird tree trunks come together. Poke around the whole place and you'll find some crazy stuff.

Is Dave Grohl still playing with them? I saw their new video and didn't notice if that was him on drums.

No, Dave didn't play on this record....but Jack Black did some stomping!

God I love these guys. It is rock music the way it should be played. I like the last album better but this one still kicks major ass.

Haven't heard them. I'll keep an eye out for it.

Another really good side project of his is Desert Sessions. I only have one of the discs..vol 3-4. Good stuff!

Desert Sessions

And of course you can't forget one of the best bands ever, Kyuss!

Agreed, I like the last one better....but they are different and a couple of the tunes on this one are just way too cool. I think "Burn The Witch" and "You Got a Killer Scene There, Man...." are as good as any song on the previous record. So different!

Did you ever check out Kyuss (the predecessor of QOTSA)? It's not exactly like Queens of the Sone Age, but you'd probably like them too. You can tell the two bands have most of the same members. Catamaran is one of my favourites.

I haven't heard the whole new album yet, but that Little Sister song is pretty good. I like them for their "non-flashiness". You can tell they're all about the music and don't care about image.

Cool I didn't realize the new album was out yet. The last one was awesome. I may have to check this out when I get off of work today. I'm looking forward to it. Thanks for the notice that it is out.

I'll tell you what Dis, after the listening the single I was a bit worried - that cowbell at the start friggin kills me...I have definatley heard better from these guys.

However, as a band that I have admired for a long time, they won me back with "Long Slow Goodbye", "In My Head" and "Tangled up in Plaid"....Great craftsmanship and originality.

Overall I would have to say that there are much more in the way of undertones speaking to a rythmic blues sounds than in their previous work.

I like the record, and have give'n it a listen straight through more than a handfew of times now.

But again, IMO it was a terrible choice for a single. Than again, I find myself more often than not, not liking the single my favourite bands put out as much as the rest of their work (Except for 1979, that song is a masterpiece)...

I agree. I also think that this record misses Nick...probably more than Homme anticipated.
BTW the QOTSA cover of The Romeo Void's Never Say Never is one of the best covers of all time.
