2005 Lineup
TERRI CLARK

Appearing: Monday July 11, 2005

Becoming one of the perennial Female Vocalist of the Year nominees for the Academy of Country Music, Terri Clark's kind of country is straight-up and hard-hitting. USA Today deemed the ravishing power vocalist, "an unrepentant honky tonker in an era of divas." It's a dream come true for the young singer, having grown up in Medicine Hat, Alberta and moving to Nashville at age 18. "Even more than an award or a tour or a moment on the radio. I think music has been a vehicle for me to show people that their dreams can come true - because really I am not that different than they are." After signing to Mercury Records, she reached No. 3 with her first single, "Better Things to Do," followed by hits like "When Boy Meets Girl," a remake of "Poor Poor Pitiful Me" and "Now That I Found You." She hit No. 1 in 1998 with the song"Easy on the Eyes". Though she still lives in Nashville, Clark won the Canadian County Music Association Fans' Choice Entertainer of the Year in 1997, 2001, 2002 and 2003 and is sure to be a favorite at this year's Stampede!

THE TREWS

Appearing: Thursday, July 14 at 9:30PM

The Trews have been compared to other great Canadian bands such as Tragically Hip, 54-40 and Big Sugar, with their major label debut House of lll Fame. With Colin MacDonald's vocal dexterity, John Angus MacDonald, a guitar hero in the making and a steady groove laid down by the rhythm section of Jack Syperek, bass and Sean Dalton, drums, Canada and beyond are about to hear from The Trews … the boys from Antigonish!

THORNLEY
Artist Website

Appearing: Friday, July 15, 2005

"Once you start writing a song, just get out of the way and let it write itself," says singer and guitarist, Ian Thornley. "That's the only way to do it." By "getting out of the way," what Thornley means is not cluttering every song with unnecessary flash and flourishes, so that what comes through most clearly is the melody - something simple, direct and deeply emotional.

TERRY STOKES
Artist Website

Appearing: Daily @ 2:30 and 5:00PM

Terry Stokes is known across America as "America's Favorite Hypnotist". From the small pubs and bars in Atlanta, GA, through the greatest fairs and outdoor shows in North America, to the finest showrooms in Las Vegas, TERRY STOKES has become the premier stage hypnotist of our time. TERRY'S on-stage charisma has made "The Terry Stokes Show" the most unforgettable entertainment experience available.

EDIT:

Has anyone been to that Transalta lights up the night deal?

I heard it was ok but boring and gets cold at night too?

It wont be the same though. Just thinking 1 month ago I saw Stanley cup final games.

It just was surreal to see all these flames shirts at the Stampede.

The Trews and Thornley is all good!!!

They have a full Nashville North lineup up too of all country bands...good for some two-steppin'!

I concur... The events are fun but I only go to the grounds once every 2 years. Same old shinguard year in and year out.

Yeah, its the same. That's kind of what gives it the appeal for me though. I like the tradition, I have a good time there every year.

Yeah, I've kinda grown out of the whole thing, but I always go down a couple times a year.

This year, however, I'll be in Antigonish for the entire week. Too bad.

Hey Otto, is that the entire Coke Stage lineup, or just the highlights? If it's the whole thing, it's pretty weak.

Where is the little kid in you guys!?! I went to the Stampede every year for 18 years and never got tired of it. If I still lived in cowtown, that streak would be at 34 years, without a doubt.

Last year was the first year in over 20 years that I missed the Stampede. I usually go about 3 or 4 times a year though. I made it up last year by going to Edmonton for the *ugh* Klondike Days

That's all they have up so far. I'm sure more will be announced later.

Okay, hang on, this is a little hard to follow.
Essentially it is a snickers bar that has been, and this is where it gets confusing, deep fried.
Get it?

And yes the are real. Apparently people have been eating them for years in Scotland (and other parts of europe I'd imagine), but i think they made thier debut at the stampede last year.

^^^^ They're dipped in the mini-doughnut batter first. Think of it as a Snicker's Bar filled Twinkie. A bit too sweet for my tastes, but not as bad as it sounds.
