Wireless will most of the time not be as fast as wired due to differences in technology, packets lost over the air, interference, signal quality, etc. What wireless standards are you using? 802.11g or 802.11n?
You can improve this by configuring the advanced wireless configuration in your router and on your wireless NIC or boosting the gain with additional hardware or new hardware/firmware. There are people that spend forever tweaking and tweaking to get the best speeds on wireless.
Even on my corporate work network for an IT company that knows what they are doing, my wireless N is about half the speed of the wired connection due to external factors.
Without knowing your particular setup, configuration details, and hardware/software, or environment where the wireless is used (even a cordless phone nearby can kill your wireless internet speed) I can't really offer any advice.
