Christmas Bonus
Ya ya, I know getting any type of Christmas bonus is a good thing, and something is better than nothing....
But when profits are at an all time high and costs are down (at my company anyways), I'm a little ticked when I only get half of what I got the last few years. Not just me- everyone else here as well.
Anyone else?
Edit: at least it's not a membership in the jelly of the month club.

Your revenue is $250,000 or your wage is $250,000?

In 2008 we had a record year for cash flow (I work at a heavy oil company)...but oil crashed in November and tehn we had a reverse takeover and our bonus walked out with the old management (after being told what I was going to get).
In 2009 I survived layoffs and no one got any bonus.
I'm hopeful for 2010, but a "bonus" is nice to get and not guaranteed.
Very first bonus I got at a small EPC was $200 in Safeway gift cards. That was in 2003.

revenue.
i work in a small company. we do approximately 50 jobs a year between 2 of us. the average total job invoice is probably around $10,000. so we generate about $500k a year combined. our combined wages are about 25% of that.
the boss pays himself well (maybe $100,000), and yet the company struggles to stay financially afloat with low overhead.
sorry to derail thread, i'll stop now.

Clark: Hey! If any of you are looking for any last-minute gift ideas for me, I have one. I'd like Frank Shirley, my boss, right here tonight. I want him brought from his happy holiday slumber over there on Melody Lane with all the other rich people and I want him brought right here, with a big ribbon on his head, and I want to look him straight in the eye and I want to tell him what a cheap, lying, no-good, rotten, four-flushing, low-life, snake-licking, dirt-eating, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, blood-sucking, dog-kissing, brainless, dickless, hopeless, heartless, fat-ass, bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spotty-lipped, worm-headed sack of monkey #### he is! Hallelujah! Holy ####! Where's the Tylenol?

What's this Christmas Bonus you speak of?
I've been in the workforce for 10 years and never seen one in my life.

Yes, I agree completely. Unfortunately, I received the same amount for several years, and got to the point where I expected that amount. My own fault I guess, as bonuses aren't written into our contract.
Oh well, no way Im not getting my 50-inch LED. Cupcake is just gonna have to settle on a lump of coal in her stocking

Why not just eat cupcake? She sounds delicious. That way you don't need to buy her anything.

My boss gave us a great cash bonus the first three years I worked here, AND a ham. Last year we hired a couple more people and.. NADA. This year, dinner at the Cheesecake Factory.

Most people don't get anything. I'd be happy with the couple hundred bucks on a gift card.

Not to nitpick, but revenue doesn't mean profits. I'm not sure what business you're in so everything I'm saying is based on assumptions. But what if profit margins are 50%? Technically that means you make half of the profits you generate. Honestly, that sounds pretty generous.

A poinsettia, a gift basket (this year it had chocolate, other years it was mixed nuts) and $200.
Same as last year. And the year before that. And the year before that. And the year before that. And the year before that. And the year before that. And the year before that.
