I can't believe Larkin didn't get in again. At least his percentage is growing, but he is obviously the most underrated shortstop of all time. Alomar should have been a first ballot guy as well. I guess Bagwell didn't get in because they thought he did 'roids? The baseball hall of fame needs to address what to do with steroid era players.
yeah the steroid issue is going to get tricky because the ballot is going to get fuller and fuller of these guys and you are going to have a whole bunch of guys with gaudy numbers some getting voted for, others not, some splitting votes etc
the 2 guys who are in are deserving as in Larkin, Raines (full disclosure my favorite player, but still too underrated on these ballots and more deserving than one of my other childhood favorites Dawson) and Bagwell who as far as I can tell has never been implicated by the steroid era directly (although I agree he's suffering collateral damage)
Roberto Alomar was my first favourite baseball player as a youngster. With the help of my grandma, I wrote him a letter telling him how much I enjoyed watching him play, and included one of those little baseball cards of me playing for my tee-ball team.
In a few weeks, I received back a hand-written letter in broken english from Mr. Alomar, along with an autographed ball, an autographed card, and even my own tee-ball card signed by Alomar himself.
It was pretty cool. Really great to see him in the Hall of Fame. Congratulations, Roberto!

Was really pulling for Tim Raines too, like someone mentioned before, at least the percentages are going the right way. Good to see Gillick and Alomar get it together, that was some kind of two years put together by the Blue Jays, here's hoping for a good year to follow this up.
Yeah. It'd be criminal to put him in as an Oriole,
Or a spit in the eye. Pretty harsh what he did to Hirschbeck, not just the spit, but dragging his deceased son into the argument. Then the HIV thing, which has come up again, and this guy off the field has some issues.

and I doubt anybody even knows he played for the Padres anymore. He's a Blue Jay, for sure.
Or an Indian, Met, White Sock, Diamondback or Devilray. Stuck around at very least 3 years too long.
Enjoyed him as a Blue Jay, rock solid defense and some clutch hits in the post season, such as that one off Eckersley on a Sunday afternoon, where the the American press and broadcasters (and Eckersley himeself) kept telling everyone that Eckersley was invincible.
But the above mentioned stuff, and hanging around just to get a check, took some of the shine off of him for me, personally.
Alomars most productive seasons were with Cleveland in the height of the steroid era. Although, it's not like he went from being a 15 home run guy to a 50 home run guy, and after his stint in Cleveland his offensive numbers did tail off. But for 5 years he was the key cog for the Blue Jays offensively and defensively.
It will be interesting to see what happens here going forward. A lot of guys who starred during the 80's or early 90's will likley start getting a lot of votes as voters don't know what to do with the mid 90's to 00's guys.

Alomar desreves the recognition as a player as he was tremendous for many years...as a person he is a piece of crap.
Yes that is too bad. If you read Stephen Brunt book on Alomar back in the 94, it casted a good light on the man. Baseball player in his prime, alot of charity work in the Toronto area and a baseball school in the Dominican Republic. Brunt has said that those book signings were crazy as teeny-bopper girls would line up to meet Alomar. Brunt says to this day those books have never been opened.
But since then it looks like it all went downhill.

Awesome. I love me some Robbie Alomar. Great he's going in as a Jay.
