Default Honda Indy Edmonton

So I like going to the races but I don't follow them on TV or anything. My wife won a trip at work for the 3 days hotel/rental vehicle/ silver package/ vip pit pass. Anyone follow these races have any suggestions of what we should check out? Looks like alot of different races going on all weekend and should be an amazing time for me at least.

I've attended the Edmonton INdy twice, although I'm not a race fan. It's okay. I was hosted by someone. If you're a fan, you'll love it. Lots of action. We got to go into the pit area and that was maybe the best part. I loved sitting in the turns where there seems to be more action and we got to see some crashes. If it's hot, take water and an umbrella because those metal seats will cook you. Good time, I guess, but I'm not a race fan.

Looks like the Edmonton Indy has sputtered out.

Wonder who takes over? Calgary was rumored a little while back. Or can Montreal handle another race? They probably have the strongest racing fan base in the country, so I wouldn't be too surprised.

I don't expect anyone in Canada to take it over. The Indy isn't as popular as it used to be, and Montreal already has F1 and Nascar.

I'm glad it's done, it was just a money pit.

About the only place I can think of in Calgary where this could even possibly go is Springbank Airport.

no one in Canada will take this race over. it's far from worth it as you just lose money

thank God some fiscal sensibility kicked in here. They tried running it opposite the final day of Stampede one year, competing for the same national sponsors.

Hopefully this is the first sign of many that the city government up here understand that you can't keep, continuously, repeatedly spending money that you don't have, no matter how loud the NDPs yell and scream.

It has a lot to do with the product.

The "IRL" or INDY or whatever it wants to be called, has been steadily losing tracks, attendees and money ever since the owners of "ChampCar" decided to give in to Tony George and his band of idiots and "Merge" the 2 series. It was not a merger by any means but that's beside the point now.

There is a large population of racing fans in Canada and taking away the fastest open wheel racing series and replacing it with corn fed farting Dallaras obviously didn't go over well with most of these fans.

filling the stands with people that got free tickets from "earl" doesn't really work in terms of selling your product,,,,,,especially when it's no longer even on TV.

Glad it's finally over. Next nail in the coffin is Toronto. Bring it!
