Default Broken Oven

When I turn the oven to bake, it won't heat up, however the broiler still works.

Would it be the element or the thermostat that needs to be replaced?

I would guess the element but I know nothing about ovens. I only guess that because the broiler is on top, and the "bake" is the bottom element.

try taking the element out and making sure the connections aren't corroded or dirty, if they look like they are just rub them with some sand paper or a wire brush to clean them up and give that a try. I had that happen at my old town house 5 or 6 years ago and that seemed to work. Good luck to you.

Although this did remind me of something that happened to my brother a year or two ago, he bought a new TV form a dude in a parking lot for like $400 when he got it some his TV turned out to be a new oven door in the LCD Sharp box....... heh good times.

Did this really happen or did you just read it on the internet and decide to personalize it to make it sound plausible?

GOOGLED FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE.

P.S. If this really did happen to your brother you should consider having him sterilized because he is too stupid to breed if he bought a tv from a dude in a parking lot without taking the tv out of the box. As well, a "new" oven door can run as much as $400 so I'm calling shenanigans on this one.

Its either your lower element or thermostat. I'd wager its the element or its connection.

Ours JUST went too... Husband bought a new one at Canadian Tire, but I guess it wasn't the correct size, and it fried the control panel in the oven.... $300 later, and we can cook again. Atlas Appliances was able to get us the CORRECT element and control panel.

Nope actually happened, Future Shop by Sunridge Mall was where he was approached and maybe the oven door was used I dont know. This is the same brother that bought a $3500 home theater from some guys at Rona in a white vanfor $500. You can google that scam too because it will show up as the "white van scam". They are both well known and used scams that people fall for.
