Default Best place in town to buy Goodyear tires?

... as in least expensive.

Contacted Fountain Tire in High River (thinking .... small distributor + low overhead = good prices.)

Wrong!

They quoted me $1700 for 5 Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires LT285/70R/17.

Crappy Tire sells them for $280.50 per tire .... 5 x $280.50 = $1402.50

As far as I know Fountain Tire and Cdn Tire are the only 2 stores in town where you can purchase Goodyears.... unless somebody knows different?

www.tiretrends.com

In all honesty don't buy goodyears. There are much better tires for the money. I think they are cheap marbling garbage.

Ordering tires is the way to go. Don't pay 40% more to cover someones overhead.

I agree. I'm done with goodyear and bridgestone. I had a set of coopers on my old truck, and they were great. My new truck came with bridgestones, and I had so many leaks it was downright frustrating. I just slapped a set of cooper discoverer stts on, and I love them. Got them at Ward Tire for a very fair price.

If tiretrends doesnt have them you could always order them from www.tirerack.com

With the Canadian dollar being strong you'd probably get a better deal from tirerack. Just factor shipping and brokerage in. Tiretrends is in Maple Ridge so you'll only have to pay shipping.

I've heard nothing but great things about the Wrangler Duratrac (new last year). My buddy has them on his Jeep and he raves about them. .... best AT he's ever had on his vehicle.

The jeep forum did a member review on them. Everybody who had them loved them. Apparently a great tire for snow, wet, dry, and mud (not as good as a lot of MT's but better than most AT's)

Currently my new jeep rubicon has BFG MT's on it and frankly they suck in slippery wet or snowy/icy conditions.... unless you're talking deep deep snow (I currently have them on my 4x4 Chev truck).

....these tires are the ones I want.... great tire for daily driving but will still perform better than most (AT's at least) in an off road situation.

I bought 3 sets of tires from discounttire.com this past year for a hell of a lot less money than what I could get the same tires for in Canada.

As many mention, research your tires because price doesn't always make one tire better than the other. Many times people stick with the Original Equipment their vehicle came with when they're often the most expensive and one of the worst performing tires on your vehichle. My Hankook evo's are a much superior tire to the Good Years that my car came with and are less than half the price.

I didnt mind the bridgestones that came on my truck. Mind you they were tiny $70 E rated towing tires. I got rid of them after getting mocked by my buddies for driving a grandpa truck.

My biggest complaint is with the compounds they use. They tend to marble a lot more than most tires. My personal preference for your application is BFG AT T/A's. I have 305's on my truck and they've been awesome. I also have a set of Pro Comp X-Terrains in my garage, they are really great off roading tires but are pretty noisy and not great in snow.

I checked out 1010tire and they sell them for $270 each so for 5 tires they want $1350 which is better than Crappy Tire... but then there is a $134 shipping and handling charge which makes them more expensive than CT.

As for Tirerack, they have a good price of $236 US each but then it would cost me $300 in freight charges (UPS ground to get them up to Calgary) thus making them more expensive than CT.

I really don't want to buy my tires from CT... but if they have the best price, I will.

I've had BFG AT's before. Good tire in most applications... except the mud..
There they become mud slicks. Thats why I went to the BFG MT's on my Chev truck... which is fine (the BFG MT's) for summer time and off roading... but as a daily driver they suck in the winter time, unless I'm in 4wd.

I've been looking at a lot of tires and the Duratrac seems to perform well in both worlds .... plus its winter rated.

The Duratracs are supposed to be pretty quiet on the hwy..... not as quiet as a car tire, but quieter than a lot of light truck tires. It will be nice to be able to hold a conversation while travelling down the hwy in the Rubi.

Ooh. I just realized that I said Bridgestone when I meant BFGs.

I'm a big believer in having a set of true off road tires and a separate set of daily drivers. I guess if you can get the best of both worlds why not. I just have doubts that the Duratracs would be dramatically better than the AT's.

Well that may happen in a few years. But right now the Rubi is brand new and just too darn pretty looking to get into the real heavy stuff in the bush. My truck has more than enough Alberta pinstriping for both vehicles. I'm going to try and the Jeep looking as good as I can for as long as I can....

We almost bought a 2010 Rubi in May, looked at a bunch and were pretty close to ordering a Mango 2dr. At the last second my girlfriend decided she wanted a new Camaro instead. My jeep dream evaporated but it was an ok trade off

I'm kinda glad though, I had my reservations about the minivan engine. Sadly Jeep had little to no information when the new world engine would be available.

Btw... Here's a pic of the new Jeep (sorry... just couldn't help it... )

Picked it up on Friday. New custom rims are due in this week (Ultra Drifter alloys
) and now I'm searching for a good price on replacement tires.

The redrock pearl is a nice color. I also like the natural green and the mango. Wish they still had that sunset orange from a couple years back.

My wife wanted the Jeep more than I did. It was all her idea. First thing she asked the dealer was: "Where does the snorkel go and how do you mount a winch on the stock front bumper?" LOL.

The dealer said that was the first time a woman had ever asked him that question.

My wife has no desire to drive a camaro. She loves her new Rubi.
