I'm in Switzerland and I'm loving it

I really love this country and here's why

-awesome terrain
-everyone is polite, no matter what age
-everyone is holding hands from 20 years old to 90 years old. The only people I see in Canada holding hands are 14 year olds.
-you can walk around on the street drinking beer.
-you can smoke pretty much anywhere, people look at me weird when I want to go outdooors to have a cigar.
-people dont' litter,,,,much
-doesn't appear to be any street gangs

-things I don't like,,,,, it is fkn expensive, but if you drink intelligently, you can live with it. ie I bought 6 tall euro beers for $9 at a co-op in the train station, and then I also bought one of the same kind for $5 a couple of doors down at a train station kiosk

Also don't like they don't play NFL right now, even though it is happening right now. It is gymnastics, darts, and other crappy sports.

Guess it boils down to, a civilized country where people have manners and you can drink beer wherever you want is a country I like. What can't we be like this

Why did you leave. I'd stay here if I could make the dough. They are pretty different to most countries when it comes to immigration I know, so maybe it isn't that easy to just stay. This is my 3rd time here, and I seem to like it more every time.

I was in University at the time and my internship ended unfortunately. I did apply for a job a few years ago to try and get back...the plan is to live there again at some point in my life. So many great things about that country, including their income tax! Between 5% and 13% income tax...awesome.

Canada is pretty sweet according to most foreigners. Almost all Americans love Canada. Most of them don't know there's a bit of an anti-American sentiment up here.

I was just there this summer. I spent most of my time in Interlaken and Gimmelwald. Planned to stay for 4 days, stayed for more than 2 weeks. For me, it was the most impressive country I went to in Europe. Left me thinking, now this is how a country should work - almost like I designed it myself (only I would have added a couple of beaches somewhere).

I agree with you - a country I could easily, easily live in.

I agree with you - a country I could easily, easily live in.

Their political system, tax system, transportation, cleanliness, etc. etc. One of the top places to live in the world...and this coming from someone who loves Canada.

Of course. Culturally as well.

French

Was there this summer. It is an amazing place. I was also at interlacken like flylock. Was a little on the pricey side but well worth it.

I love Switzerland. I used to spend almost every summer in Lugano, it's one of my favorite places in the world. Palm trees and then snow in the winter, how can you go wrong. If you have the money, its a great place to visit or better yet to live.

Lugano is stunning...as is Locarno and Bellinzona...man now I want to go to Switzerland again.

Some of the coolest places I have ever seen where in Switzerland. Bern was a cool little city, and Interlaken was downright beautiful. There are some amazing mountain villages up from Interlaken, like Murren and Gimmelwald. Great for people who love skiing in the winter or hiking in the summer.

While it sounds like a nice place for the most part, the whole smoking anywhere thing really makes it seem like a backward country.

I love it there. I've been a couple times and will be going for my third time this summer. The only place I really wasn't a huge fan of was Geneva.

Bern, Lucerne, Zurich, Lausanne, Montreux, Locarno, Lugano, Gandria, Zermatt, Zug, Basel... everywhere is so awesome.

Absolutely loved Switzerland when I was living in Europe. One of my very favorite places in the world. Zurich is easily in my top 3 cities.

I've thought often about living there for awhile - just outta curiosity what keeps taking you back there? Work? Where do you stay/live?
