NHL in the movies
Myself and the lady friend went to see Life as We know it last night with Josh Duhamel (transformers / Fergie's guy) and Katherine Heigel (Knocked up / Grey's)
Duhamel's character Messer wears NHL gear throughout the movie. I saw Blues, Hawks and Thrashers gear. This got me thinking a couple of things.
- Does the NHL Pay to get this motion picture exposure much in the same way that food companies do with product placement?
- What other movies can you recall that gave the NHL some promotion?

almost any movie with Adam Sandler or Denis Leary has some type of NHL reference. i think it's mostly up to the actors themselves, given that Duhamel was born in North Dakota there's a very good chance that he's a hockey fan

She's Out of My League. There is a Pittsburgh game versus the rangers I believe

Lethal Weapon 3. Kings Leafs game, actual game mixed with extras in with altered jerseys when Mel is on the ice.
And the best reference:

Lots of hockey references in Zack and Miri Make a Porno.

A few Pittsburgh Penguins references, including a scene that took place outside their arena (as scripted, perhaps not actually shot there) in Zack and Miri Make a Porno. Kevin Smith is a hockey fan. His favourite team is Edmonton though.

I think the Pens are playing the Islanders not the Rangers

Bruce Almighty had the Sabres win the Cup because of Jim answering everyone in Buffalo's prayers.
Also The Rocket mentioned the NHL once or twice

Pretty sure he is a Devils fan. I see him quite often at Devs games.

He became an Oilers fan around the same time he blimped up. Just saying.
But yeah he's more known as a hardcore Devils fan, not sure why or when he jumped on the Oilers bandwagon. And most of his movies reference hockey.

Ah fair enough. Perhaps Edmonton isn't his most favourite team, but I think he is a fan of them as well.

He was fat then he got fatter. Probably added on 50 pounds over the last couple years.
