I actively trade. I mostly concentrate on one stock, LVS. My style is different than most. I average down. I think most charts right now are parabolic. I love to short stocks and it's rare that I go long now.

wow, i dont really run into too many people that short stocks. they dont know how it works or are too afraid to do it. I agree with you, most of the stocks that i have been trading and coming up on my scans are going parabolic (licking my chops in anticipation for a correction). lvs has been one that has been really strong. i had that in my rrsp portfolio but sold it a few weeks ago (dang it).

It has definitely outperformed it's sector (LVS). At one point it completely ignored the market. I usually gauge it with WYNN. I have a hard time holding on to a position over night. Just recently I have started playing with pre market and after market. Only paper trading pre and post at the moment. I traded LVS twice today. The second time I needed to average.
What do you trade frequently?

i only trade alpha stocks and dont have a favourite. I trade about 4 or 5 stocks a day but i watch about 100 throughout the whole day and pick out the ones that "fit my strategy plan" and either go long or short. each day is different and i usually only play the US markets. lots of liquidity. i dont play the venture and only buy stocks on tsx if the canadian dollar is good and the company is also listed on the nyse

I only have about a half of a clue what I am doing, but I've been trading quite a bit for the last 2 1/2 years. Mostly I stick to big dividend, known-to-me companies that "feel right" to me. Some high growth tech companies (I bought both Google and Apple in early '09 when they were on sale - go me  .) I still own probably 90% of every company I've ever bought.
And I've dabbled in penny stocks a bit, just for the trill of it. As I was telling people at Thanksgiving: "It gets me out of bed in the morning!"

I might get involved in OTC. Looking at HESG, it's selling for .0002. I might buy 1000000 shares. It's a pot stock.

That's the kind of strat that will either make you rich or make you loose your shirt in a hurry. Mostly the latter.

I will look into this one when I get home.
I did quite well on CTVWF recently. I bought it at 0.0006, sold half of my position at 0.001 and the rest at 0.004. I tried buying more yesterday or the day before at 0.0003, but my order didn't go through. I have no idea why the stock went up 2400% in a couple days in late Sept... but I am sure glad it did.

Lucky people and your free time. I just give 250 bucks a month to my brother and let him play with it. I don't even know what my return is for the past year. At least I trust the guy and I'm using some form of dollar cost avg strategy or something.

i was thinking of IB but i had a few guys that had issues with the platform. plus IB is more on commissions per trade. Im paying $5 a trade

Ah, I see.
The amount I trade in penny stocks is very little, making up perhaps 2-4% of my portfolio. I couldn't stomach more than that.
