Thornton heading to Oil Country

GM Penney told Joe he would have 1 game to prove himself in the regular season to determine his fate. Although he got 2 points, he was a -2 and that is not good enough. Joe Thornton has been traded.

"Thornton is a big guy who can do a lot of things well like square dancing, tick tac toe and ballet. He is not a good CPHL'r. He sucked in the preseason and is going to suck in the regular season." said Penney. "We only traded for the bum to ship him to the Oilers so he can knit and play cribbage with old man Cheese.

"We like the deal because we get back two players who can play C which will help solve our C problem. We can also call up Pouliot and expect him to get some good ice time with the young kids we already have here.

I like this deal for the Oilers. Sure Weiss is playing on the top line in Florida but hes just one of those players who hasnt really elevated his game or taken over his team. Any time you can get a top consistent point producer in Thornton you go for it - especially with what Edmonton sent.

The Oilers love square dancing, tick tac toe and ballet so we welcome Big Joe with open arms. Losing Weiss in the deal was hard, but getting a solid player like Joe who has contributed to winning teams in the past was a no brainer for me. Chris Higgins will also help fill a gap left by losing Jason Arnott who has dropped his production from a year ago.
