I don't think that Edmonton does, but at the same time their airport is so much better than the piece of garbage found in calgary.... we upgrade my putting in model dinosaurs..... thats just great.

This was announced a while back, about when jetsgo went down....

But wow, i have no problems with Calgary or Pearson. Terminal 1 in TO is incrediable and Calgary is recognized as one of the best airports for a midsize city in the world.

Have you guys been to [LaGuardia - NY]? It is a shinguard HOLE! Horrible, horrible, airport literally falling apart. Water stained ceiling panels, loose wires, old old carpets, broken tile floors, and no WINDOWS at the AC gate! Just a little 30 yr old box with shinguardty chairs in it!! After having seen that, in the "greatest city on earth" i have no complaints...

EDIT - haha! Opps! I meant LaGuardia not Newark!!!!

If I'm not mistaken, Calgary International was named the best mid-sized airport in the Americas in a tie with San Antonio's a few months ago.

I've been through San Antonio's and I don't know what's so special about it though. It certainly seems a lot smaller than Calgary's too.

Nice to see a direct connection to The Big Apple which really is a great, great place to visit. . . . although maybe not in the dead of summer.

Huh???

Emonton Intl is a piece of shinguard that seems to be stuck in the 70's as far as colour scheme and baggage handling goes.....or at least it was 2 years ago when I used to fly in. Calgary is WAY nicer, with the only problem being the new Westjet wing and the 10 mile hike you have to take to get to customs if you fly intl with them.

I was refering to the new Edmonton International, you know the one that is a 40 minute drive out of the city. That is actually a very nice airport.

But I am just not a fan of the Calgary Airport, I have just found it to be really small, and to a certain extent cluttered.

If you think that Calgary has a small airport, then you really haven't been seeing the edmonton one clearly.

It is way smaller than the one in calgary.

And yes, I am talking about the one outside of edmonton. I live pretty close to it.

Is there really enough demand for a direct non stop flight to Albequrque? I guess I can go see the Isotopes play in person now....

How the hell do you mix up those two? One is huge, close to the city and has great views of the Pacific ocean while the other is a small steaming shinguard hole in the middle of no where with views of nothing.

I think you have.

Edmonton's airport is similar inside to a bus terminal from 1983. A bigger version of the Kelowna airport.

Good to see a direct flight to NYC...if nothing else, it will keep WJ honest with their pricing there, now that Jetsgo's down the toliet. We we hoping to go sometime this year...before Jetsgo went down in mid January, I priced a return flight for 2 to NYC and was $760 tax in on WJ (a sale).

Sale price has now gone up by about $80 per person, per flight. So add about $320 on to that trip (if you can find the sale fares).

Yeah no shinguard about LaGuardia...New York is the only place I wouldn't fly with WestJet to. Continental will be my airline of choice should I go to NYC again in the future, they were great when I flew down to TPA with them from YYZ, highly recommended B-)

I've seen my fairshare of airports and Calgary after the renovations is pretty near the top of my list. The undisputed winner is of course the HKG International, it's what every International Airport should be. B-)

Calgary Int'l gets top marks from me. The only complaint is the lack of a good place to get breakfast if you're travelling internationally. Mind you...they do serve alcohol at 5 a.m.
I hate the Las Vegas airport...for the amount of people they put through there, you'd think it would be bigger and better organized.
There are some really nice ones in the US - Minneapolis and Detroit come to mind. I have a three hour layover in Minny tomorrow and I'm actually looking forward to it.

What I'm wondering is why this is on the KOMO 4 news website. They are the "local" ABC station here (western British Columbia), based in Seattle. Why do they care if there is now flights from NY to Calgary everyday?

Not that it matters one iota, just found it a little odd.

I've been most impressed with Chicago's O'Hare airport so far; but have yet to do any continental travelling, so can't speak for places outside of NA.

Probably becuase it may mean Continental will be buying more Boeing (based in Seattle) jets?

And fotze, yes. $138 per person each way + tax to NYC (would've been over the family day weekend, but still) via West Jet (LaGuardia).

If we weren't busy getting ready to moved, we would've done it.
