So the Painkiller is brighter than the new Linkin Park album?

So I guess the news statements that Linkin Park broke up were just rumours?

As far as I know, they never broke up or even suggested it. For awhile about 4 years ago Mike Shinoda did an album with a new group called Fort Minor (AWESOME album by the way) but he never left Linkin Park.

That guys voice is way too whiny to take seriously.

Everytime I hear that crawling in my skin song, it makes me wish I was deaf.

My anticipation level for this album is a 6/10.

I loved their first album. I also loved Re-animation.

But since then, I haven't liked them as much. It's hard to describe why.

Obviously this'll be worth a download, but I'm not sure it'll remain in my playlist for more than a few listens.

I hate that song. They've definitely declined since their first album.

It'll have one good radio single, two if we're lucky.

Linkin Park has really lost the raw creative edge that made them so successful. The song has no surprises. You can basically turn it off after 30 seconds because you've heard everything there is to hear. Lyrically, it's more of the same.

Edit: OK, I did turn it off after about 3 minutes. Shoulda left it 30 seconds longer. The piano part needs to come in earlier cause it's not bad. Actually it starts to get pretty good at that point. 4:45 to reach the climax.

Now I'm really gunna overanalyze one song, but I would have written it the other way. Start soft with the piano, go into the funky techno stuff then come back to the piano at the end. I found that the techno stuff didn't really give me a reason to keep listening, it's just noise.

In other news, got Disturbed's new album, Asylum.

Disappointing. They played it safe on this one. Not as earth shattering as 10000 fists or Indestructible, just... safe. That's really the best way to put it.

In other news, Nehkara also started a Disturbed thread weeks ago.

Huge LP fan, seen them 7 times in concert. Very pumped for the new album, but this is the first time where they have released a single where I'm not listening to it everyday before the album drops. It's growing on me with every listen, but it's not like the first time I head Somewhere I Belong or What I've Done.

I'm gonna guess the album is gonna be more of the same sound, so it may take me awhile to love it, but I'm sure I'll get there. I have a hard time thinking of any Linkin Park song on any of their albums that I don't like.

Linkin Park, as much as I want to like them... I just can't anymore.

Listen to Hybrid Theory and you'll cry because of how far they've fallen.

This thread is really creating the illusion that at one time, Linkin park was a talented and credible band.

^^^^Sorry they're not artsy indie rock that is boring as sin. Music is supposed to make you feel good and if a band can make me tap my toes or sing in my car, then they are doing their job. I could care less if a song is cliche, I don't need anything innovative to put me in a good mood.

You coming here and blasting LP like it's a fact they suck is just ignorant. It's a matter of opinion. Come here and say you don't like them, fine. But don't make it sound like it's gospel that Linkin sucks.

I like Linkin Park. Great live act(never met anyone who didn't like a LP show), fun music and they're pretty cool guys to boot.

Just picked up and listened to the new album. Definitely different. Unlike anything they have done before and on some songs, it's a pretty unique sound they created. It's nowhere near to being as radio friendly as past albums. I'm having trouble finding single calibre songs. And that was most definitely not the case on their previous work.

You gotta give them credit. It would have been really easy for them to give us the same stuff as before to make an easy buck. LP have a huge following and could have easily sold a lot more albums had they gone back to what made them big. But they didn't. They tried something different. It's going to have mixed reviews from fans. Diehards like myself will grow to like it and respect them for what they've done here. Not sure how much I like the acoustic song at the end of the disc. Doesn't suit Chester's voice at all.

Very few songs with hard guitars or a screaming Chester, so those lookin for a repeat of Hybrid Theory or Meteora will be disappointed.

I am interested in seeing these new songs live in concert. they haven't been out to Vancouver since a Meteora tour and haven't come close to Seattle in a few years either. I've seen them live 7 times, but zero in the last 4 years. It's annoying. Stop touring Asia, come to Vancouver!!!

Here's a review that called it one of the best albums of the year and gave it 5 out of 5. Obviously not a big name critic, but who's to say his idea is any more correct than a big shot, or you or me.

A couple of decent songs, but I fell in love with them for Hybrid Theory and Meteora, and this album, like Minutes to Midnight, pales in comparison.

Disappointed.

Pretty disappointed after the first listens, but it slowly is starting to grow on me, but I can tell this is gonna be my least favorite of their albums. I'm a little put off that it took over 3 years to put out an album that really only has 8 full length songs though. I've never been a fan of interludes and this album is full of them.

Did it take them 3 years to make? Or has it just been 3 years since the last one came out? Probably hard to make an album when they are touring and doing side gigs.
