I'm basically looking into putting up 2 flag mounts, one on either side of my garage door. The thing is, I want quality equipment that is going to last. Has anyone done this and do you have any suggestions?

Have already priced several flags and they are extremely affordable. Can't wait to get them flying for various occasions or just my standard everyday scheme I have in mind.

If you intend to fly a canadian flag, get one from your MP. In the blue pages there'll be a list of mps, call their office & tell 'em you want a flag. They're about 2" x 4" & good quality. Oh, and they're free.

16 square feet or exactly half the size of a piece of 3/4 floor plywood or 3/8 wall sheathing. I doubt you'd want them too much bigger if you are putting two up on the fron of your garage. You'd look like a Yank with the wrong flag if you had anything bigger than that.

You can get a decent sized, good quality Canadian flag for under 30 bucks.

Though maybe Displaced is going for more of the silken Stars and Stripes.

When I was in Armenia I got a 8' by 5' silk flag for 12 USD. It looks pretty cool.

Actually 2'x4' is 8 square feet. It would take 4 of them to fit onto a sheet of plywood.

Hmmm... I just went downstairs to see & it appears that my estimate was wrong. I now peg the size of the flag at more like 6" x 3"

Its a perfect size flag, quality enough for outdoor use. I believe that that is what they are for.

Looks like I'm using the wrong mark to denote feet. I do mean feet, I stand corrected. 3'x6'

Thanks for all of the replies everyone. I will check out the flagworks site. Calf has it....American in Kansas, originally from NW Montana. The wife is Canadian though. Born in Montana...moved to Northern BC when she was 6 months old. Didn't move back to the states until she was 18.

I'm finding 3' X 5' to be a commonly offered size.

The normal day might find me flying an American and Canadian flag side by side. I guess that would make me look like a yank with one wrong flag. Can't be too patriotic if you're American for some reason. It makes us look bad....meanwhile, everyone else can throw around their patriotism all they want. I've never understood that double standard. Back to the topic at hand....

Have to get a Flames flag for game days, a Broncos flag for Broncos game days....and a Montana state flag, just because I don't like Kansas!

I live in an apartment and during hockey season I fly a 3' x 5' Flames flag on my balcony. And then there's my car, it's a rolling Flames propaganda machine.

Honestly, screw flying American and Cdn flag.

Fly one Flames flag and get one with a printed picture of Sutter on it.

As an offshoot of this topic, when I was in Seattle two summers ago, I found myself in a rather upscale, beachfront neighborhood across the bay from Seattle Harbour as I was looking for a good shot of downtown. In that neighborhood especially (and in many other communities I've seen in the states) virtually every single house had an American Flag hanging from the front of their houses.

Personally, I couldnt help but to laugh to myself, as it did not come off as being truely patriotic, but rather an entire neighborhood looking at their neighbor and thinking "I had better fly the flag or I will look out of place." It struck me as being false patriotism.

I think you find that alot with all kinds of things. The ol' 'keeping up with the Jones' phenomena. I think it goes beyond monetary issues into many other aspects of life.
