Star Wars in 3D?
http://www.cbc.ca/arts/film/story/20...rerelease.html
Simon Pegg has it right:
Quote:
Watching TPM [The Phantom Menace] in 3D would be like the car actually crashing into your face as opposed to just unfolding before your eyes
|
In my experience, 3d-effects applied to film are much more difficult to watch than movies that have been filmed or rendered in 3d from the start.

Preparing for the worst and hoping for the best. May skip the first out, as I don't think I can stomach watching it again.

I wont see them. He already ruined the middle 3 with bs special effects, thankfully I had a DVD copy of the middle 3 before the carnage.
George is one person who I used to think was awesome, now I hope he goes bankrupt and drives his segway off a cliff. This type of money whoring should be illegal.

I'm normally against 2D to 3D conversion... but I might make an exception for Star Wars.

The really sad thing about the crappy prequel trilogy is that it made me completely lose all interest in Star Wars. Prior to the terrible prequels, I would have been first in line to give even more money to Lucas to buy the films on Blu-Ray or see them in 3D (despite having watched all three films over 100 times each). Now I just don't care.

Let me know when they come out with the LOTR extended edition trilogy on Blu Ray. Then I can be excited.

I just watched Episode One with my son (who loved it - he was four), but I was shocked at how bad so many parts of the movie were (acting, Jar Jar, plot, driving through the centre of the watery planet).
Having said that, I would probably go see it in 3-D with my kid, cause it would be fun and he would like it...
And I might be alone in this, but I'm hoping Lucas does Episodes 6-9 all in 3D - say a hundred years in the future of the Star Wars universe

On a side note, Hayden Christiensen (sp?) established himself as one of the worst actors ever in the Star Wars trilogy. Man that was some craptastic acting.

Aside from the others that have fixed your post, episodes 7-9 clearly need to be the Timothy Zahn Thrawn trilogy of books that take place 5 years after ROTJ.

Fun Fact: It was this trilogy that gave name to the planet Coruscant, it was never named before this.

I agree with a lot of what people are saying here about the prequels.
However there were certain parts that really stood out for me, and I have to admit that I still watch and enjoy all of the Star Wars films.
The Phantom Menace
Likes
The lightsabre fight between Jinn, Kenobi and Maul.
The space fight between Naboo and the Trade Federation.
Anything to do with Palpatine, especially that little smile when Padme announces that she's going to return to Naboo to fight.
Dislikes
Jake Lloyd, I felt bad for the kid, that would be a tough role for anyone.
Jar Jar Binks George tried to recreate Chewbacca
The battledroid, keystone cops
The Neimodians - blatently oriental villians.
Attack of the Clones
Likes
Christopher Lee - Count Dooku was great
The further background maneuvers of Palpatine
The battle scenes and lightsabre fights were excellent
MacGregor as Obi Wan
Samuel L Jackson as Mace Windu
The fight between Dooku and Yoda
The last scene with the ships taking off to go to war
The reduction in Jar Jar's role
Jar Jar destroys democracy and lays the groundwork for Sideous
Dislikes
The love story was forced.
Christenson and Portman were wooden, the girl throw by Anakin while screaming "I hate them" was a Hanna Montana moment
Jango Fett follows his sons path and dies a punks death.
The kind who played Boba, that laugh was cringeworthy.
The return of the Sith
Likes
The machinisms of Palpatine throughout the movie
The final lightsabre duel was awesome
Order 66
The opening battle scene
The betrayal and death of Dooku
Anakin slaughters the seperatist leaders.
Darth Vader arises
The scene on the Star Destroyer when they survey the death star
The final scene
Yoda arrives to confront Sideous
Dislikes
Anakin's fall seemed really rushed.
Palpatine sounds like the Frankenstein monster
really bad acting by Portman
The Frankenstein noooooo by Vader (slightly redeemed by Palps reaction)
Greivous
lack of dialogue during the fight between Kenobi and Vader
Star Wars
Likes
About everything,
Dislikes
The acting with the exception of Ford was off
Empire Strikes Back
Likes
Everything
Dislikes
I can't think of anything
Return of the Jedi
Likes
The return of Palpatine
Vader's arrival on the Death Star
The battle in Space
Han feeling up Leia after she's been shot
The emotional lightsabre fight between Luke and Vader
Vader's moment of indecision before he betrays his master.
The shifting battle, there was something emotional when the Ewoks started losing the battle.
The gold bikini
Dislikes
The Ewoks
The cutesy bar song scene
Bobba Fett totally ment to jump into the Sarlaac "Its been real Daddy-O but I'm not going to give you the satisfaction, but you know what would have been cool, a thermal detonator"
Carrie Fisher mailed in her performance especially in the bridge scene.

I don't know, while it was really well written, Thrawn to me was not enough of a villian. He was a brilliant and ruthless Admiral, but he never smacked me of being evil. Half way through the series, I was almost cheering for the guy to bring honor and order to the galaxy.
The way they ended his character was Bobba Fett like.
Adding extra letters to designate clones, oh noes its Luuuke Skywalker and Juurus Cyboth.

Have I missed some news about Episodes 7-9? Are they back into the plans? Last I heard it was a resounding, no, that there would not be episodes 7-9, that Lucas was happy with the way the series went and no longer feels the need to make any more movies.

I'm not a fan of 3d to begin with, but this might mildly interest me if it wasn't the Special Editions. I would gladly buy the original (THX) on Blu-ray or 3d. Until the Special Editions are dropped that franchise will be getting no more of my dollars.
