No need to to point out the obvious irony of the story, but its too bad, according to the article he sounded like a very generous guy.

As tragic as someone losing their life is, I can't help but laugh at the irony.

I burst out laughing when I read the title and found out he drove off a cliff. I know I'm bad, too bad for the guy.

I don't know, is this the best example of irony?
Wouldn't it be ironic if he was run over by a segway while he was walking by the river.
This seems like more of a bummer then anything else.

Exactly. Its just like the Alanis Moresette song quoted above. Nothing in her song was ironic, it was just plain old bad luck.
It would be ironic if the guy died after touting the Segway's were the safest mode of transport or something.

One of the original claims made about segways was "you can't fall off one".

This is still true. You just can't fall off a cliff on a segway.

as the owner of Segway, he had easier access to ride them and thus had higher odds of dying on one than most of the population. not ironic
