Default The Pat Tillman story

Anyone seen this yet:

His brother was on Real Time on Friday, the guy who famously mouthed off those at his funeral saying he was with God.

There was a book out on Pat Tillman, that covered his death, I've been meaning to pick it up, but I have too many other fricken books that I'm reading.

One of the actions of the CIA in Afghanistan since the Russian invasion called Ghost War

The other covers the events leading up to 9/11 called Looming Towers.

Those will take a while to get through.

Yeah I have like 20 books waiting on me, I have to stop going to the bookstore until I'm at least 5 away from being caught up.

I'm actually running out of physical space to store books in my home. But I hate giving books away because most of them are non fiction, and I might want to use those facts during a useless conversation.

The book "Where Men Win Glory" is amazing, one of the best I have read in a while. Written by Jon Krakauer, who also wrote "Into The Wild".

Really hope I get a chance to see the movie

The part that bugs me is General Petraus is involved in the cover up/distortion of facts and yet the Obama admin promotes him.

In terms of battlefield success General Petraus has been their most successful field commander.

While I don't like what happened with Tillman before and after his death, you can't argue with his success.

I wasn't

But it is pretty rich that being gay can get you kicked out but being involved in a cover up does not stop a promotion.

Rant over.

Sorry but I have no sympathy for child molesters.

Edit: Wrong Tillman. I was thinking of the guy with the creeper haircut. Carry on.

i don't read a lot of books, but I bought this one when we went to Mexico last spring - I could not put it down. the book also provides some insight into how messed up Afghanistan is......

I beleive the other Krakuer book you are referring to is Into Thin Air - a book about a bunch of climbers dying one year on Mt. Everest

I'm sure most of you have heard of this book by Christie Blatchford "Fifeteen Days"

If you are looking for Canadian content and stories of our troops. Very sad too.

I really enjoyed it.

Yup, I enjoyed that one as well. I also recommend War on top of the world by Eric MArgolis.

correct, but Krakauer also wrote Into the Wild, the story of Christopher McCandless' ill-fated journey into the wilderness.

I currently reading "War" by Sebastian Junger. Another take on the war in Afghanistan...excellent read thus far. Junger also wrote "The Perfect Storm"
