I am soo p*ssed off right now.
I just lost 4 perfectly good blanks. It happens sometimes to me.
Does this happen to others that burn DVD's as well?
:crap: :mad2:

Usually the fault of cheap poor blank DVD's.. Get ones made in Japan if at all possible.

Those are great ones.

Just curious, does the same go for cd's in terms of quality? Are some brands better than other?

I ruined a couple by burning too quickly, maybe slow it down a notch or two and you might have some success. I always, always buy DVD-RW as well, if you mess up, you didn't ruin the disc, you can just re-burn.. cost more, but so so so so sooo much more worth it.

I've been using Maxell DVD-RW's for a while now. I recommend those if anyone can find them. They come in a blue case and the DVD's are yellow, I've recorded and re-recorded several times on all 3 that came in the 10 dollar case. Great investment as I prefer to just record over and over again.

Try DVD Decrypter combined with DVD Shrink, both are free. You'll get better quality than Clone and it's easy to use.
For even better quality use DVD Decrypter and DVD Rebulder with CCE (Cinema Craft Encoder). It has less options to edit the disc though (taking out the extras, menus etc.) and is a little more complicated setting up. Plus it costs money, unless you know the right people.

I am using Maxell DVD+R right now, they are baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad
I usually use Memorex DVD-R or DVD+R.
Sometimes they work great, and I can do like 10 in a row then I have like 4-5 go bad in a row.
It is really frustrating.

Yup, CD-R's can have different quality too. I've had CD's that I burned a few years ago that were unreadable.
Here's a link to a thread that has more info about this stuff than you'll ever need:
http://forums.redflagdeals.com/showthread.php?t=87989
But I think a good guideline is if it's made in Japan it's better.

Why? you can get a 50 pack for like $25 now... so what if you burn a couple platters. But the burn speed is a good tip.

My preference. I tend to just re-use the same blank dvd's over and over. A movie here, a movie there, a tv here, a tv show there.

Like I said in the other thread, Maxells should be some of the best DVD-media you can buy. I don't understand this unless you have the DVD+Rs actually made by Ritek or the Maxells made in Taiwan.
