Default New George Strombo Show

http://www.cbc.ca/strombo/

I'm a big fan of The Hour and now he has a new show called George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight. Anyone else tuning in, or know why the format changed?? Tonights guest will be Robert Plant. Should be a good one, I just don't care for the 11pm time slot.

I haven't really watched the hour show all that much, but the bits and pieces I've seen of it seems really good. He seems to really make sure he does his research first, and he doesn't come off as a kiss-ass like a lot of interviewers do, just asks his questions and accepts the answers, doesn't try to provoke something that isn't there for the sake of ratings. Also his guests always seem to be good every time I see an advert for the show. I don't know if I'm just reading more into it than is there, but from the interviews I've seen the guests seem to be very relaxed and more willing to give frank answers to questions, because I think they get that Strombo will show them respect without trying to pry or make drama that isn't there.

Should probably add this to the PVR list.

Strombo is one of Canada's best TV personalities. I'm not surprised guests are relaxed on his show and he gets mad respect; he's calm, collected and doesn't try to create drama. He was very much the same when he was interviewing artists on Much Music. Plus, the guy just doesn't seem to age. I think he's almost 40 now.

Strombo comes across as a pompous ass. Can't watch his fake, smarmy face.

Nothing makes you appreciate CBC more than having to watch American "news" programming. Strombo and the National are two of the biggest things I miss about Canadia....

Try starting a thread with his name. I had to copy paste off the cbc website to get it right.

I'm surprised so many people can't stand him. I think he's probably one of the more genuine interviewers out there. The people he's interviewing seem to appreciate how sincere he is.

At the risk of derailing a thread.

I really dont think we need to discuss again..

I will say they are too left and somebody will say no they are not.

We all have endless examples of the incompetence to some and endless reasons why it is ok with others.

Some have different expectations from CBC than others so we will never agree on that either.

I'm not in the mood for a CBC is bad/good conversation.

There I hope I have saved us all about 2 pages of Groundhog Day.

That is true I always miss ANY Canadian news when I'm out of the country for awhile.

The hour is a great show and one of the few things I watch on CBC. From what I've read about the "new" show, it's largely the same? I dunno.

??? hmm, he comes across as a normal guy. That's why he's so good...that's also why he's such a great interviewer. He draws his guests into a conversation and they forget they are even being interviewed. He's the same guy on and off camera, TV would be so much better if there were more broadcasters like him.
