Would you go see it?

Have to admit, I'm on the fence on this one. I'm all for personal freedoms, anti-cencorship, pro-choice, but I'm struggling with this one.

I think they should be allowed to make the film, any theatre that wants to show it should show it. But, out of respect for the families and the victims, I choose not to go and see it.

Maybe it hits closer to home because this all happened not too long after we moved to southern Ontario, and this all took place only an hour and a half drive from where I live.

Thoughts?

I read the book years ago so I'd like to see this movie just to see how close they make it. I'm just hoping that it is accurate to what really happened and they don't try to make it too theatrical and hip.

We're aware they've hired two actresses to play the roles of French and Mahaffy and that they intend to simulate what occurred inside the Bernardo-Homolka home," said Danson. "On that basis, we have requested an advance viewing of the tape."

If the movie is trashy or sensationalizes certain aspects of this sordid affair, I don't think I'd go see the movie out of respect for the French and Mahaffy families.

Maybe they can get Holmolka to do a cameo, she's out of jail soon isn't she?

Yep, and apparently she will be living with her multi-millionaire lesbian lover.

Wants to come to Calgary by the way.... yay!

Hopefully her cameo involves a video of someone shooting her.... and I think that is me being nice to be honest with you/

I guess the balance that would have to be achieved for me to watch is that the reality of the situation must outweigh the glorification of it.

In other words, the killers had better be just that, killers, and the victims just that, victims. If there is an attempt here to pull a wierd Natural Born Killers slant to it, then that would be glorification (in an extreme sense).

This might continue the rather poor precedent that, if you're a successful and fearful serial killer, there's a good chance you'll get a movie made about your sinful exploits. Not really a good concept to be reinforcing, as some times these sick individuals do it for the 'attention'; what more attention can one get than a movie?
