Default Changing Tires Yourself

I got an old beater truck that I'm driving back and forth to work (small town Alberta) to keep the miles off my car. The tires on it are almost gone but I don't want to spend the money on brand new tires that might outlive the truck. I found a good set at the wreckers for a reasonable price.

My question is has anyone ever changed the tires on their vehicle, meaning taking the old ones off the rim and putting the new ones on the same rim. I know how to do it I'm just wondering how difficult it is without a tire machine. I realize I may still need to get them balanced afterward.

Don't know how you would do it yourself, but most tire stores will do it for about $20/tire including balancing. You should easily be able to get all 4 changes, balanced and mounted for under $100.

No tire machines on the trails.

So rip some holes in my jeans and do it in the driveway without a shirt on, got it.

I try and do most of the maintenance on my vehicles as I can, this one I might be better off letting the professionals do. Otherwise I can see high blood pressure and a lot of yelling in my future.

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

Elbow grease mounting tires is difficult on motorcycles and dirtbikes, I couldnt imagine trying it with truck tires.

I've tried it with a beater car once. Ended up going to a tire shop.
