That was funny... except he was wrong about the "feel badly" part. Feeling badly implies that there is some issue with a person's ability to feel, and saying that you "feel bad" can be interpreted as simply the opposite of feeling good.
If you try it with different words, the rule is pretty clear. Nobody would say that they "feel happily" (unless a mammogram for Beyonce was involved... then it would be, "Of course I will feel. Happily.") They would say they "feel happy".

That was funny... except the points he is making ironically often reflect a really poor understanding of language.
Unless that was part of the funny.

I'd have to say Aussies take this to a whole new level. It always seems to me like they try to say things with the least amount of syllables as possible or as quickly as possible.

Its become entirely too common too see "then" and "than" exchanged for each other in the english language...and they have no where near the same meaning. A rather large pet peeve of mine and one that is seen daily on this very message board.

Same goes for affect and effect. These words are not interchangeable.

I admit I have troubles with this... I still remember asking my Jr. High teacher about this and she had no idea. 10 years later, I still have problems figuring it out

When you affect something you get an effect of some sort.

Should the title of the thread be "Things we say wrong" or "Things we say incorrectly"?
