Default Why Do Heavy Drinkers Outlive Nondrinkers?

GREAT NEWS, drink more, hahahahahahah stupid non drinkers.

Quote:
One of the most contentious issues in the vast literature about alcohol consumption has been the consistent finding that those who don't drink actually tend to die sooner than those who do. The standard Alcoholics Anonymous explanation for this finding is that many of those who show up as abstainers in such research are actually former hard-core drunks who had already incurred health problems associated with drinking.
But a new paper in the journal Alcoholism: Clinical and Experimental Research suggests that — for reasons that aren't entirely clear — abstaining from alcohol does actually tend to increase one's risk of dying even when you exclude former drinkers. The most shocking part? Abstainers' mortality rates are higher than those of heavy drinkers.

Because when your loaded, you are stress free.

Therefore its logical to assume that if you drink every hour of every day you have no stress.

Plus the pickling thing.

Nothing wrong with kicking up your feet with a beer after a hard days work and watching the game.

It seems a pretty standard axiom in life: "everything in moderation"

What about moderate/light/social drinkers? I'm pretty sure they outlive everyone else.

As with EVERYTHING in life, moderation is the key.

Without any type of medical degree, I imagine the following:

- Totally agree with the stress comment. Taking the edge off keeps your body from over-working.
- I've also heard of the 'blood thinning' idea as well, seeing as how alcohol gets into the blood stream, and it's oxygen that actually breaks down your body in the end. The more alcohol in your blood stream, the less oxygen you can get into your blood?

Again, I'm no doctor... But I'm going to drink like one when I get home tonight.
