Default CP Forums - New ads on mobile browser?

I don't know if we have a support forum or general questions so I'm opening this in the 'Off Topic' area. Please feel free to move it as necessary.

Is anyone else getting new mobile ads as of today (or maybe yesterday)? I'm seeing pop-ups when I navigate to a thread or forum and I now have an advertisement bar that shows up across the bottom of the screen when you start scrolling.

It's super annoying. Is this new? Anyone else seeing this?

So do persistent banner ads. Just hopped into bed and fired up the iPad to do forum things and there they are. Super ####ing annoying.

Surely if the forum needs more revenue they could engage the user base for donations once a year. I'm sure loads of people would rather do a small donation to help with costs than deal with these annoying ads.

It's really messing things up on my 2nd computer, the ads are dragging things down for some reason, taking a really long time to load a page and it's hanging up.

On my phone the pop ups are covering the entire screen and not centered.

Suggest that to Bingo, I just flip the buttons and toggle the bits.

This would be a good time for Bingo to be transparent about what he was looking for with the extra ads. If we could avoid them with a voluntary donation, like a Patreon, I’m sure he could get enough to cover those funds.

The last thing this place needs is more people leaving because they’re annoyed by intrusive ads.

Again as stated in the other thread, it was simply testing.

Personally I will wait to see what the final setup is before I make any decisions or complain.

Are you suggesting holding the Convoy in Winnipeg for a few days while it gets worked out? I've got a lot of rabble rousers here, and not sure I can contain them. Some yelling about filleting all the nerds.

Is CP actually shrinking though?

Only 56 new accounts in 2023

Only 6 of those have more than 50 posts

At least 2 of those are returning members with new accounts

4 new active members in the entire year, and I'd bet the number of old members that stopped coming around is larger than that
